The Steve Jobs biopic currently in the hands of Universal Pictures after being dropped by Sony Pictures earlier this year has reportedly signed another actor to join its cast, playing the role of the first wife of the visionary late co-founder of Apple.

According to a report by Deadline, Katherine Waterston - best known for her 'breakout performance' in the recently released feature film Inherent Vice - has been cast as Chrisann Brennan, Steve Jobs' first wife and mother of his first child, Lisa Brennan.

Steve Jobs and Chrisann Brennan are said to have had a relationship with several ups and downs, as also Isaacson's biography, which is the basis of Aaron Sorkin's Steve Jobs biopic. The role of their daughter, Lisa Brennan, was recently confirmed by screenwriter Sorkin to be a central character in the upcoming biopic.

As reported earlier, the Steve Jobs biopic follows Jobs preparing for three presentations throughout his life that were pivotal moments for himself and the pioneering tech firm's success.

For now, the rest of the cast has not been officially confirmed by the filmmakers, but are purported to be Michael Fassbender as Steve Jobs, Seth Rogen as Steve Wozniak, Michael Stuhlbarg as Andy Hertzfeld. As for who will play Lisa Brennan, reports have pointed to Natalie Portman and Jessica Chastain being in talks for a role in the film, though whether they were being considered for Brennan's role or wife Laurene Powell Jobs is still not known.

The Steve Jobs biopic has had a difficult time getting off the ground, starting with actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale pulling out of the titular role. Sony Pictures also abandoned the movie in late November, making the future of the movie uncertain, though it was shortly after snapped up by Universal Pictures.
