The Mobile World Congress is finally here and Samsung seems to be attracting attention not with mobile phones or tablets, but with a TV connected box in the form of HomeSync.

Samsung claims that the HomeSync is a media hub that lets you view all your videos, photos and apps at full 1080p resolution, with streaming from local Galaxy devices.

It even supports up to eight individual password-protected and encrypted user accounts, with each able to individually sync content from other devices and share it with the other accounts.

The device features a 1TB Hard disk drive and runs on Android Jelly Bean. It is powered by a Cortex A15 1.7GHz dual-core processor coupled with 1GB RAM and has 8GB Flash Memory.

Connectivity wise, HomeSync offers an array of options like Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11n 2.4 & 5GHz, Gigabit Ethernet, plus optical audio and HDMI 1.4 outputs. Whetehr or not Google TV will be a part of this, is unclear. But considering it is powered by the Android OS, it definitely has access to the Play store for apps and can be controlled by a phone remotely.

HomeSync has multiple codec support for both video and audio such as H.264, H.263, MPEG4, VC-1, Sorenson Spark, WMV7/8, MP43, VP8, DivX FOR video and MP3, AAC LC/AAC+/eAAC+, WMA 9std/10pro/Lossless, FLAC, Vorbis, AMR-NB/WB, Wav, Mid, AC-3 for audio.

Though pricing details are a miss along with any hints for specific streaming protocols like Miracast or WiDi, HomeSync will be available from April 2013 in select countries and expand gradually to other regions as well.
