Xiaomi at its Thursday event in China has unveiled its new Mi TV 2S television. The company claimed that the new Mi TV was "redesigned from head to tail."

The new Xiaomi Mi TV 2S will be available in China in two variants: a Standard edition will be available at CNY 2,999 (approximately Rs. 30,600), while a Cinema edition will be available at CNY 3,999 (approximately Rs. 41,000). Both the versions will be available starting July 22. As of now, the Chinese company has not revealed plans to launch the new TV outside China.

The firm specifies a 4K resolution, but has not provided the exact resolution or aspect ratio. Xiaomi touts that the new Mi TV 2S's frame is 9.9mm-thick, and says its the thinnest aluminium frame in its Mi TV series. It adds the TV is almost thin as the Xiaomi Mi 4.

While announcing the Mi TV 2S, Xiaomi compared its new TV set with the likes of Samsung, Sony, and Sharp TVs. The Chinese company claimed that its new Mi TV 2S offers better clarity, colour, and contrast when compared to its competition. For audio, the company claimed that Mi TV 2S had better sound quality than the Bose Cinemate 1 SR home theatre speaker system.

Under the hood, the Mi TV 2S is powered by an MStar 6A928 processor running on the MIUI TV operating system based on Android 5.0 Lollipop. It packs 2GB of RAM and 8GB of inbuilt storage. The new TV set from Xiaomi supports latest Dolby sound technology. It also supports Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0 LE. The Mi TV 2S includes HDMI 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports while can playback 4K videos at 60fps. The company even showcased the newly designed Mi TV Plug for the Mi TV 2S. The 48-inch Mi TV 2S features an all-metal design on the back.

Xiaomi at its Thursday event also unveiled the Mi Water Purifier, priced at CNY 1299 (roughly Rs. 13,300). The device will go on sale starting July 28 in China. The company revealed that the new Mi Water Purifier uses reverse osmosis (RO) with a TDS value under 100 to purify water.

The new Mi Water Purifier uses four filters - PP Cotton filter, activated coconut carbon filter (2x) and an RO membrane. The company claimed that it can churn out 400 gallons in 1 day. It adds the Mi Water Purifier is compact, with a base area smaller than an A4-sized paper.

The water purifier measures 205x260x410mm and offers 1 litre per minute water flow. It comes with built-in Wi-Fi and can allow users to check the water quality real-time via Android or iOS app. The app can remind users when the filter needs replacement as well as can help buy new filters. The company claims that the process to connect a smartphone to Mi Water Purifier is easy and once connected the phone can search purifier automatically.
