A Swiss company has launched the world's first "Smarter Socks" app for iPhone which can be used to reunite lost socks with their partners, the Daily Mail reported Monday.

Blacksocks managing director Samy Liechti explains "Socks are smart. They always know where they come from, who they belong to and are always faithful to their sock partner because they never stray."

But how does it work?

All socks have a built in communication button, almost like a small chip, making every sock unique with their own ID.

Users must first buy the actual Blacksocks socks with the built-in chip, then purchase the Blacksocks iPhone app.

Then use a special sock sorter device to scan each sock chip which transmits signals back to your iPhone and finally helps you match your socks, the daily said.

The app tells you all the vital information you need to know about each sock from its status and how many times it has been washed to which foot it belongs on.
