Adobe Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements upgraded to version 11

Adobe announced Photoshop CS6 for both PC and Mac earlier this year, with an overhauled interface. Now the popular photo and video editor has announced a makeover for its beginner-level line of products, Elements.

Both Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Elements have been upgraded to version 11 with a host of new photo and video-editing features, and most importantly, a simpler user interface for those new to the software. Both have a more readable UI as opposed to the old theme with the dark background and low-contrast icons.

To be more specific, Photoshop Elements 11 now has a completely refreshed, user-friendly interface featuring the same engine as Adobe Photoshop. It includes Quick for easy navigation, Guided and Expert editing modes, one-click options, an Action bar and big, bold icons to help users get the most from their shots.

Users can now organise photos based on places, thanks to Google Maps integration, that allows them to see their photos on a map. They can also organise by people and events more easily and intuitively. The new Guided Edits allow users to make pro-level effects like tilt-shift, vignettes and high and low-key over illustrations.

Further, the new Photoshop Elements also brings various filters inspired by comics. These are "Comic", "Graphic Novel" and "Pen & Ink" that will help turn your photos into beautiful comic-like illustrations. This version also inherits the Refine Edge tool from Photoshop that uses an edge detection brush to cut things and people out of photos, taking into account fine edges like hair.

Premiere Elements 11 includes most of the features as Photoshop Elements 11. Additional new features include Hollywood style filters like Red Noir, a "Sin City"-esque effect with red accents. Video buffs can also add a Hollywood-like appeal to their videos with FilmLooks. They can also apply slow and fast motion effects with Time Remapping and Reverse Time, dial-in colours with slider controls, effortlessly integrate blends for seamless transitions and make adjustments with Quick Presets

Users can also add finesse to their creations with a wide range of great-looking effects, transitions, themes, titles, disc menus and professional-level effects and sound. Vimeo integration allows users to upload their creations and share with others (Other social networks like Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Shutterfly and SmugMug were already integrated)

Both softwares now come with a re-tooled image organiser that highlights commonly used functions front and centre, with lesser-used features like keyword tagging hidden in the menus.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and Adobe Premiere Elements 11 for Windows and Mac is available now the official Adobe website. Pricing remains the same with the two apps costing $100 each or a $150 as a bundle. Those willing to upgrade will need to pay $80 per software or $120 for both.
