It's the day of app updates. First Instagram, then Facebook Messenger, now Gmail for iOS.

The latest version of the app, called version 1.2.7812 - you read that right - brings much-awaited Notification Center support. That means you can now configure the app to display banners, alerts, and lock screen notifications for incoming emails.

The app also adds persistent login, which means the app will no longer automatically log you out, forcing you to re-enter you credentials. If you use multiple email addresses within a single Gmail account, you should grab this update right away. This version finally adds support for alternate senders, provided your Gmail account is setup to use them, of course.

Gmail for iOS v1.2.7812 is now available as a free download.

What's New in Version 1.2.7812
  • Notification Center support. Banners, alerts and lock screen notification options.
  • "Send-as". Alternate sender support, if configured within Gmail.
  • Persistent login. Sessions no longer expire.
