  • Opera VPN has been one of the most popular of its kind
  • Opera Gold users can avail one-year subscription to SurfEasy
  • Free Opera users can also avail 80 discount on SurfEasy

Following an announcement last month, software manufacturer Opera's popular VPN app has permanently shut down with effect from April 30, 2018. The app was previously available on both Google Play for Android and App Store for iOS. It's not all bad news for premium Opera VPN subscribers as they have been provided with the option to redeem a one-year complimentary subscription to SurfEasy Ultra VPN - which regularly costs $11.99 (roughly Rs. 800) per month.

As per a blog post from last month, "this is a free upgrade for Opera Gold users, as SurfEasy Ultra offers unlimited usage on up to five devices, access to 28 regions and a strict no-log policy. SurfEasy is also available on more platforms, currently supporting Windows, Mac, iOS, Android and Amazon devices."

Additionally, there's something in it for Opera users not on the Opera Gold plan. They will be able to purchase the SurfEasy Total VPN plan at an 80 percent discount, for a nominal price of $0.99 (roughly Rs. 66) per month instead of the regular $4.99 (roughly Rs. 333). This plan allows for unlimited data access, tracker blocking, and a 5-device limit.

SurfEasy also has two other VPN plans in its portfolio - the starter plan is free to try and offers 500MB free data with device limit capped at 5. Alternatively, users can opt for the premium plan - Ultra - that offers unlimited data, tracker blocking, torrent protection, and 12 additional countries with the same 5-device limit for a price of $11.99 (roughly Rs. 800) per month. All of their plans come with 7-day money-back guarantee.

"Founded in 2011, SurfEasy consistently hits 99.9% uptime both globally and regionally for all of its users, has a unique ad tracker/blocker, and most importantly does not log browsing or downloading activity like some other VPNs," claims Opera in the blog post.
