Secret, an anonymous-sharing app that was launched in February this year, has now been updated to version 2.0 with a new UI design, features and a brand new colourful icon.

The Secret 2.0 app now comes with text-based design that loads faster than the previously used big square image blocks. The design now shows posts by anonymous users in a Twitter-like feed. Users can however add images, which will now be seen as a small circular image on the right-side of the feed (seen above). Tapping on the image opens it up.

"We still believe great ideas can come from anywhere," said David Byttow, one of the co-founders of Secret to The Verge. "It's more important what is said than who said it. Our goal is to facilitate conversation - either in a physical location, or socially, with your friends."

Secret 2.0's claim to fame is its new one-on-one private chat feature. Now users, besides leaving anonymous comments on posts, can also tap on any commenter's avatar to open a direct message chat window. Like each user who comments on the post, the chat also gets a random label like "Hidden Village" or "Magical Theater" to let users distinguish between the chats easily. It has been also understood that the chats get deleted after about a day when inactive. The new Secret app also alerts the user when the other users are typing in the private chat.

As a part of the update, Secret 2.0 now also lets users share their locations, which includes a number of colleges and schools. While in the previous version anonymous feeds were filtered by Friends and Explore options, feeds will now be filtered by Friends, City and School.

The updated Secret app is available to download from Google Play and App Store.

Notably, the new Secret 2.0 app comes months after Apple, following a recent court ruling removed the Secret app from its App Store in Brazil in August.
