WhatsApp Enhances Efficiency, Says Gurgaon Police Chief

Instant messaging application WhatsApp is an "amazing tool to enhance police efficiency", Gurgaon police chief Navdeep Singh Virk has said.

Commissioner of Police Virk has been communicating with his officers using email and applications like WhatsApp in the last one month, a statement said Sunday.

"WhatsApp is an amazing tool to enhance police efficiency by several times and to connect to the people in real time," he said.

"With the growing use of Whatsapp by everybody and the increasing use of smartphones, Gurgaon police has also adopted its use in a big way."

He said that with the growing population and growing responsibilities of police, "the only way forward is to modernise the police force using latest technology".

Virk also said people have sent him new ideas about using technology.

He said Gurgaon police would monitor official work, especially police patrolling at night, through WhatsApp.
