About The Family Man Season 1 Web Series

Srikant Tiwari (Manoj Bajpayee) is an intelligence officer working in National Investigation Agency’s fictitious cell, Threat Analysis and Surveillance Cell (TASC), which specialises in predicting terrorist attacks. While Tiwari is a senior analyst with laudable work history, he has to disguise himself as a regular employee stuck in a dead-end government job.

Oblivious to the truth, his family perceives him as a pathetic loser who is unwilling to give up on his low-paying job out of sheer laziness. Things take an interesting turn when Tiwari has to juggle between a secretive mission to prevent a high profile terrorist attack and his family which is growing distant day by day.

The Family Man Season 1 Review

The Family Man — Amazon's newest original series from India, out now on Prime Video — really wants you to know that it's inspired by real events. That's why it's not happy with just having a title card that says as much. To further drill home that point, the first episode ends with (somewhat unnecessary) newspaper clippings that showcase its various sources of inspiration, centred around Islamic radicalisation, Hindu nationalism, cow vigilantism and mob lynchings, mass surveillance, intelligence agencies' logistical problems, and its agents' financial worries and misuse of power. One part of its story deals with the insurgency in Jammu & Kashmir, a timeless topic that gains an added tinge in the wake of recent political decisions.
