About War for the Planet of the Apes Movie (2017)

Apes are suffering unimaginable losses after their recent conflict with humans.

Instead of giving in to fate, resilient Caesar (Andy Serkis) decides to begin a quest to avenge his kind, which might bring him face to face with the merciless colonel (Woody Harrelson ) a.k.a. leader of the paramilitary organisation obsessed with wiping out his tribe.

The Oscar-winning drama is the third instalment in Planet of the Apes reboot franchise, and serves as a sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011), and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014).

Early in War for the Planet of the Apes, the camera travels from a point-of-view perspective, as apes shuffle backwards, lower their hands, and raise their open palms in respect. As the camera reaches four human captives on their knees, it cuts to reveal an aged, grey-haired version of the ape character we've followed since he was a baby: Caesar (Andy Serkis). Despite knowing him from two previous films – Rise of the Planet of the Apes in 2011, and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes in 2014 – it's a chilling introduction to someone who is essentially a demigod among his now-advanced race.
