The next instalment in the Assassin's Creed series may be set in Greece and is already well into development. It would be coming to the PS4, Xbox One, and PC, leaving the Nintendo Switch out of the mix.

According to a report from Comicbook.com citing multiple sources "linked to Ubisoft", Greece was slated to be a part of 2017's superlative Assassin's Creed Origins but during development, Ubisoft decided to use the setting in a completely new game.

The report also claims that this Assassin's Creed game is slated for a 2019 launch and has been in full production since 2017. However the time period in which the game takes place in is unknown at the moment.

That being said, we won't be surprised if the timeline takes place around or after the events of Assassin's Creed Origins. Particularly since Assassin's Creed Origins protagonist Bayek's wife, Aya is of Greco-Egyptian descent and ended up playing a surprisingly pivotal role in that game as well as the franchise's overall lore.

For what it's worth, Assassin's Creed Origins was a welcome return to form. Revamped combat, a fantastic representation of ancient Egypt, and a world crammed with things to do, Assassin’s Creed Origins was a return to form of the franchise that has us optimistic on what to expect next.
