  • Battle royale will not be a part of it

Halo Infinite is the next game in the long-running Halo series of first-person shooters. While a Halo Infinite release date is yet to be announced following its reveal at E3 2018, developer 343 Industries had a livestream wherein it let slip what we can expect from Halo Infinite when it's eventually released. These include Halo Infinite having player customisation inspired by Halo Reach, which fans view as the best of the series. Those who reach level 152 in Halo 5 will get a special reward in Halo Infinite as well. Furthermore, the team stated that Halo Infinite's Slipspace engine was not made from scratch. Rather it incorporates elements from other Halo games.

On the topic of Halo Infinite's engine, 343 Industries revealed that it was developed with PC in mind, scaling for different hardware combinations. Furthermore, development for Halo Infinite on PC will be "treated as a first-class citizen" according to a Reddit post summarising the livestream. Four-player split screen will be a part of Halo Infinite as well while 343 Industries is looking to start a Halo Infinite pro team but want the game to be accessible to those of all skill levels.

With Battlefield V and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 adopting the popular battle royale genre, one first-person shooter will stay clear of the current hype around it, Halo Infinite. The Xbox One (and possibly next Xbox) game won't be mimicking its contemporaries with a take on battle royale. This was confirmed by Halo Infinite developer 343 Industries during a social live stream by the studio. On being asked by fans if Halo Infinite would follow the battle royale trend, Jeff Easterling, a writer at 343 Industries known to the Halo community as Grim Brother One stated otherwise.

"I'll tell you right now, the only BR we're interested in is Battle Rifle. The original BR. So, calm yourself," he said 55 minutes 55 seconds into the stream.

Prior to the battle royale genre gaining momentum, the abbreviation 'BR' was commonly thought of in gaming circles as the Battle Rifle - an iconic weapon in the Halo franchise. Judging from Easterling's reply, it's safe to say it would feature in Halo Infinite as well.
