Software major Infosys said on Friday it would use the cloud platform (Bluemix) of global IT firm IBM to develop and deploy next-generation applications for its enterprise clients worldwide.

"We have set up a Bluemix-powered innovation lab to co-create applications with clients, train our engineers on the IBM platform to develop application skills and adopt the cloud platform to leverage its cognitive computing and analytics solutions," the IT major said in a statement here.

Staffed with designers, specialists and industry and technology architects, the lab is designed to deliver application prototypes.

"Digital transformation is unleashing the power of smarter processes for our clients. Our goal is to bring these advanced technologies to clients' application landscape in the most rapid and collaborative way possible," said Infosys' head, Application Development and Maintenance Srikantan Moorthy.

IBM Cloud general manager Steve Robinson said: "Today, a massive digital transformation is underway unpinned by the disruptive forces of cognitive computing, analytics and IoT all delivered through the cloud. Through Bluemix, developers can accelerate the deployment of these next-generation apps that leverage the most innovative advancements in technology."

Infosys will incorporate Bluemix-related curriculum in its on-boarding and training process for employees, the statement added.
