Samsung Launches 'Smart Learning' Store for the Education Sector

Samsung on Tuesday announced the launch of Smart Learning, what the company is calling India's first education store, under its MSC (Media Solutions Center) division.

The South Korean consumer electronics giant says the Samsung Smart Learning store has been designed to offer the "best-in-class interactive study material to students." The material is meant to supplement the educational needs of students studying in classes 1st to 12th for CBSE board, as well as students preparing for competitive examinations. Samsung says it will soon also offer material for other school boards and higher education syllabi, apart from providing skill building content.

The Samsung Smart Learning store will be available on all Samsung Galaxy tablets, and the company says it will offer "high quality education content curated from leading education partners and academicians." The content includes in-depth subject-wise content with multimedia tutorials, interactive lesson-based exercises, and practice tests.

A cloud-based service, Samsung Smart Learning can also be accessed via offline access points - Samsung says approximately 7,000 stores across India have been equipped to sell education content on the Samsung Galaxy Tab, and that this will be gradually extended to 10,000 stores.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Tarun Malik, Director, Media Solutions Center - South West Asia, Samsung Electronics, said, "Samsung Smart Learning Solutions is a first-of-its kind service innovation in India which has the potential of revolutionising the educational landscape in the country. Designed to supplement traditional classroom learning, the content is based on a problem solving and interactive approach for students, and stresses on concept understanding in students. At Samsung, we are committed to being the first in software services innovation and with Smart Learning; we are looking to establish our leadership in this space too."
