If you're in the market for a laptop that can also serve your tablet needs, but you don't want necessarily want to spend a ton of money on it, Smartron's new offering might interest you. The Indian electronics company on Thursday announced the launch of the Smartron t.book hybrid computing device that packs in high-end innards and is priced at Rs. 39,999.
At a media event in New Delhi, Smartron unveiled its 2-in-1 Windows 10 device. The company touts the design and hardware specifications of the t.book. The tablet comes with a flip-stand and keyboard, which quickly turns it into a full-fledged laptop. The company claims that the t.book, which has an aluminium and magnesium body, can last for 10 hours on a single charge.
As for the specifications, the t.book packs in a 12.2-inch WQXGA (2560x1600 pixels) IPS display, which maintains an aspect ratio of 16:10, and comes coated with a fingerprint-resistant oleophobic layer. It is powered by Intel Core M processor with 4MB of cache, and turbo frequency of 2GHz, coupled with 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM. As for storage, we're looking at a 128GB SSD. On the photography front, there's a 5-megapixel rear-facing autofocus camera, and 2-megapixel front-facing shooter.
Other features of the Smartron t.book include two full-size USB 3.0 ports, one USB Type-C port for charging with USB 3.0, one Micro-HDMI port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microSD card slot, and magnetic pogo pin for external keyboard support. It also supports 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi dual channel (2.4GHz and 5GHz), and MIMO. On the software end, the Smartron t.book runs Windows 10 Home, and comes with a 30-day trial of Office 2016.
The Smartron t.book comes in two colour options: Grey and Orange, and it will be available for purchase at Rs. 39,999. It will be exclusively sold on Gadgets360 starting April 8. The registration for the t.book has begun.
