The iQOO 15R is a return to the "flagship killer" philosophy, with an emphasis on pure speed and battery life. The phone responds quickly at all times, with a smooth screen and battery life that essentially eliminates battery anxiety. The cameras may not be the best around, nor is the software the cleanest with a healthy dose of bloatware, but it’s a top-shelf recommendation nonetheless.

The OnePlus 12’s design uses premium materials like glass and aluminium for its construction and also offers an passable IP65 rating for dust and water resistance. Its 3D curved edge display shows vibrant colours and also offers a QHD+ resolution, which offers good sharpness.

The phone packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, which has enough power to handle anything one throws at it. The large vapour chamber cooling system also ensures that the phone remains cool at all times.

Its camera setup is similar to the one offered on the OnePlus Open and offers solid telephoto performance up to 6X zoom. Ultra-wide photos and selfies do leave a lot to be desired in terms of low light performance.

The phone comes with OxygenOS 14 and Android 14 out of the box. Battery life is excellent and charging is really fast. The phone also offers fast wireless charging as well.

The Google Pixel 8 Pro has a brand-new design which appears flatter thanks to its flattened rear panel and its new display. The display gets quite bright outdoors and being flat also makes for distraction-free viewing. The phone maintains its IP68 rating and also offers wireless charging features.

At the heart of this phone is Google’s latest Tensor G3 processor which allows for several AI-enabled software features to run locally instead of connecting to the cloud. Despite its benefits when it comes to new AI-features, it’s not exactly there with the best in its segment when it comes to overall performance.

Battery life is the same as the previous model and the same applies to overall camera performance as well. Video quality has improved drastically and this works well even in low light. The new AI-enabled photo and video editing tools work really well and the same goes for the new Pro Controls shooting mode as well.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 offers a large cover display which the brand calls ‘Flex Window’. The cover display is the phone’s highlight feature along with its new processor and revamped hinge, which also makes it appear slimmer than the previous model when folded.

Both the outer and inner display have excellent sunlight legibility. The main folding display also supports HDR10+ content.
The new processor offers better performance be it software or gaming. However, the device does tend to heat up under load, especially when using the camera.

Battery life is a bit average and charging is a bit too low compared to the competition. Camera performance is quite good overall. The phone also performs relatively well when it comes to low light performance. While the phone offers a primary and ultra-wide angle camera, it lacks a macro camera or capability.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 Specifications
Processor Snapdragon 8 Gen 2
RAM 8GB
Storage 256GB
Battery Capacity 3700mAh

The Galaxy S23 is a compact premium flagship smartphone from Samsung. The phone offers a design that is very similar to its predecessor and is made of glass and metal. While little has changed in terms of design, its compact form factor makes for easy one-handed usage.

The phone has a 6.1-inch Super AMOLED display with a flat screen. Powering the smartphone is a customised Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor which offers more than enough power for day to day tasks and even gaming.

Camera performance is quite good and is something one would expect from a premium flagship. The same can be said about the phone’s video recording quality. The phone is also capable of capturing 8K video at 30fps.

Battery life is impressive for a compact device and the phone easily manages a full day of use on a single charge. However, wired charging is quite slow for a premium smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Specifications
Display 6.10-inch
Processor Snapdragon 8 Gen 2
RAM 8GB
Storage 256GB
Battery Capacity 3,900mAh

Vivo’s X80 Pro is the brand’s flagship replacement for the X70 Pro+. While the phone seems to have minor cosmetic changes, there’s plenty that’s changed on the inside.

The X80 Pro gets a new and updated Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC that is now paired with Vivo’s updated V1+ imaging chip, which assists with imaging and gaming performance.

Its 6.78-inch display mostly remains the same, but is still a high-end one with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2K resolution, which makes it quite sharp. The Vivo X80 Pro has a 4,700mAh battery that plugs into an 80W charger and also offers 50W wireless charging.

The cameras have been upgraded as well. There’s now a 50-megapixel Samsung-made GNV sensor for the primary camera and Vivo has moved its unique gimbal stabilisation technology to the 2x Portrait camera for clicking better Portrait photos in low light.

The Samsung Galaxy S22+ does not offer any special features over the smaller Galaxy S22. It shares a similar design that’s a bit bigger and is available in the same RAM and storage variants as the latter.

Like the Galaxy S22 and the S22 Ultra, it too gets a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC in India. It features a large Dynamic AMOLED display that is good for gaming and streaming video. Its larger battery also makes it a two-day smartphone with casual use.The camera quality is quite good and the same applies to video recordings.

The cameras do a good job of capturing photos and video even in low light. Charging speeds are faster than the Galaxy S22, but not as fast as the competition.

The iQoo 9 Pro is a solid offering in the premium segment and it comes packed with features and impressive core hardware. There’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset which offers ample performance whether its regular use or even hardcore mobile gaming.

The 6.78-inch AMOLED display is geared towards gaming with a 120Hz refresh rate and 300Hz touch sampling rate but is also quite colour accurate and delivers deep blacks when viewing videos. The loud stereo speakers also sound quite immersive.

Camera performance is top notch. All three cameras perform well in daylight and in low light. The primary camera’s gimbal stabilisation also works well for daylight video recordings, but quality drops a bit when shooting at night.

The iQoo 9 Pro’s 4,700mAh battery easily lasts a day and bit more on a single charge and charges up very quickly using the bundled 120W charger. There’s also 50W wireless charging using the company’s proprietary charging dock. While the phone looks good and feels premium, an official IP rating is missing and could be a deal breaker for some.

The iPhone 13 brings a few subtle updates compared to the iPhone 12, but you might find that the previous year's model offers better value. This phone has a bright, vibrant 6.1-inch OLED screen, but with only a 60Hz refresh rate and an annoying notch. The A15 Bionic SoC provides more than enough power for gaming and heavy apps. The cameras are versatile and deliver great quality for stills as well as video, plus you get the same Cinematic Mode and Photographic Styles features as on the more expensive iPhone 13 Pro. Battery life is good, but not great. iOS 15 keeps everything running smoothly. You can choose between 128GB, 256GB and 512GB of storage. The iPhone 13 mini is equivalent in terms of features and performance.

The design of the X60 Pro+ looks elegant, feels refined, and is surprisingly light. The display looks very nice too. It's a 6.56-inch curved AMOLED panel with a full-HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Vivo X60 Pro+ gets a performance boost over the standard Pro model thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC.

Vivo's custom Android skin called FunTouch OS is now at version 11.1, and is based on Android 11. Performance was blazing quick too. Even with all its bells and whistles, FunTouch OS ran smoothly and was easy to master. The Vivo X60 Pro+ has a decently sized 4,200mAh battery which easily lasted me about a day and a half with my typical usage.

This is a great alternative to the Mi 11 Ultra and the OnePlus 9 Pro, especially if you'll be creating a lot of videos.

Cameras are the main star of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G. There's a new-generation 108-megapixel primary camera,12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and two telephoto cameras. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G has a mighty impressive set of rear cameras, and all of them have important roles to play, unlike phones with dedicated depth or macro cameras. The selfie camera is also equally competent here.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is also a true-blue flagship with cutting-edge components like the Exynos 2100 5G SoC. It managed to run graphically intensive games such as Call of Duty: Mobile and Asphalt 9: Legends at the QHD+ resolution. The Galaxy S21 Ultra also fully supports Samsung's S Pen, which is sold as an accessory.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G doubles up as an excellent device for media consumption. The 6.8-inch AMOLED display gets incredibly bright, and colours look rich and punchy. The 5,000mAh battery capacity is the same as what the Galaxy S20 Ultra had, and easily lasts for more than a full day of heavy to medium usage. The new design makes the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G look way better than previous models. Samsung's new contour-cut design for the camera module is unique, and manages to mask the camera bulge pretty well.

Display 6.80-inch, 1440x3220 pixels
Processor Samsung Exynos 2100

The iPhone 12 mini fills a void in the market, and many people looking for a compact flagship-level phone will be pleased with it. This model could be a suitable upgrade for those holding on to older iPhones because they like the size. You get nearly all the same flagship specifications as with the iPhone 12, with the exception of a smaller battery and slower wireless charging. The display is smaller but just as dense, and quality is excellent. Performance is also great, though this phone does get a bit warm when stressed. The iPhone 12 mini can take brilliant photos in the daytime and at night with both its rear cameras and the front one as well. Night mode is supported across all cameras. Games and movies aren't especially engrossing on the smaller screen but the iPhone 12 mini will do for casual everyday use. iOS 14 is slick and smooth, and you get guaranteed updates for several years.

The Vivo X50 Pro is a part of the Vivo X series which serves the higher end of the market. The Vivo X50 Pro is the first smartphone in India to sport a Gimbal camera system. This system helps stabilise video and helps click better photos by stabilising the primary camera. The Vivo X50 Pro sports a quad-camera system with the primary camera being a 48-megapixel sensor with a gimbal to stabilise it.

While the camera is the highlight of the Vivo X50 Pro, it is well equipped. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC that is 5G enabled. The Vivo X50 Pro has a 6.56-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with a hole-punch at the top left corner. The panel also have a higher 90Hz refresh rate. It has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The quad-camera setup on the Vivo X50 Pro consists of a 48-megapixel primary camera, a 12-megapixel portrait camera, an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 13-megapixel telephoto camera. The Vivo X50 Pro managed good photos in daylight and the telephoto camera does offer 60x zoom. Lowlight photos were even better as the phone could stabilise for shakes while shooting with night mode. Videos from the Vivo X50 Pro were also well stabilised at all resolutions.
