OnePlus 5T has been launched after much anticipation as an upgrade over the company's previous flagship, OnePlus 5. The new smartphone features a bezel-less display and an enhanced, low-light supported, dual-camera setup, alongside a face recognition feature that looks similar to Apple's Face ID. OnePlus 5T price in India starts at Rs. 32,999 and comes in two variants - one with 6GB of RAM and 64GB storage and the other one with 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage. The hardware and the price of the OnePlus 5T make it a compelling option over the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 that debuted at Rs. 35,999. Interestingly, the Nokia 8 is also in the race, and the minimal bezels of the OnePlus 5T also make it a strong competitor against the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. OnePlus 5T price in India is set at Rs. 32,999 for the variant with 6GB RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage, while its 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant is priced at Rs. 37,999. The Mi Mix 2, on the other hand, is available for Rs. 35,999 with 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. The Nokia 8 is priced at Rs. 34,299, whereas the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 comes to the Indian market for a price tag of Rs. 67,900. Samsung is giving a cashback of Rs. 4,000 when the Galaxy Note 8 is purchased using an HDFC credit card.

The OnePlus 5T features a 6.01-inch full-HD+ (1080x2160 pixels) bezel-less Full Optic AMOLED display and an aluminium unibody design with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front and 18:9 aspect ratio. The Android 7.1.1 Nougat smartphone runs OxygenOS 4.7 that has features such as facial recognition algorithm-powered Face Unlock and Gallery Maps. It is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 835 SoC, clocked at up to 2.45GHz, paired with up to 8GB of RAM and non-expandable storage of up to 128GB. Its 3300mAh lithium-polymer battery supports OnePlus' proprietary Dash Charge (5V, 4A) to enable fast charging. The handset has a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, while its front-facing 16-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture lens allows the facial recognition feature.

OnePlus 5T First Impressions

OnePlus has upgraded the primary, dual-camera setup of the OnePlus 5 by adding a 16-megapixel Sony IMX398 sensor with 1.12-micron pixels and an f/2.7 lens with a focal length of 27.22mm and a 20-megapixel Sony IMX376K sensor with 1-micron pixel size and f/1.7 aperture as well as a focal length of 27.22mm. The rear camera sensor is accompanied by a dual-LED flash and EIS (electronic image stabilisation).

Contrarily, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 has a 5.5-inch IPS LCD panel with full-HD+ (1080x2160 pixels) resolutionand 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone has a Snapdragon 835 SoC, coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB onboard storage. The Android 7.1 Nougat smartphone has MIUI 9 skin on top and packs a 3400mAh battery. It has a single, 12-megapixel camera sensor with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus lens, and dual-tone LED flash. The primary camera sensor has optical image stabilisation (OIS). A 5-megapixel camera sensor is available on the front with f/2.0 lens. Besides, the Xiaomi handset packs a 3400mAh lithium-ion battery that supports Qualcomm's Quick Charge technology.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 Review

The Mi Mix 2 is built with an aerospace-grade aluminium allow frame and a ceramic backplate. There are proprietary features such as Dual Apps and Second Space that give a distinct experience.

The Nokia 8, on the other hand, has a 5.3-inch IPS LCD panel with QHD (1440x2560 pixels) resolution and 16:9 ratio as well as Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The Android 7.1.1 Nougat-based smartphone has a Snapdragon 835 SoC, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage that can be expanded via microSD card (up to 256GB). The handset features two 13-megapixel camera sensors on the back with f/2.0 aperture Carl Zeiss optics along with laser and phase detection autofocus and OIS support. It also has a 13-megapixel camera sensor on the front with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus lens. There is a proprietary camera app that includes features like Live Bokeh and Panorama mode in addition to the iconic 'bothie' mode that comes through the Dual Sight camera to capture frames from both the front and the rear camera sensors. Besides, the handset packs a 3090mAh lithium-ion battery.

Nokia 8 Review

HMD Global, the company behind Nokia brand, has provided OZO audio on the Nokia 8 that enables a spatial sound experience. Additionally, the Nokia flagship has a 6000-series aluminium build that comes with a heat management solution to reduce warmth.

 

Among the four, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has an Infinity Display that is a 6.30-inch Super AMOLED panel with QHD+ (1440x2960px) resolution, 18.5:9 ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The Indian version of the Galaxy Note 8 has a 1.7GHz octa-core Samsung Exynos 9 Octa 8895 SoC, coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB onboard storage that can be expanded via microSD card (up to 256GB). The handset has a dual-camera setup with two 12-megapixel camera sensors with f/1.7 and f/2.4 aperture lenses along with autofocus support and OIS. The primary camera system offers 2x optical zoom, which is not available on the OnePlus 5T. Also, an 8-megapixel camera sensor is available on the front with f/1.7 aperture lens and 1440p video recording support at 30fps. Lastly, the Android 7.1.1 Nougat-running Galaxy Note 8 comes with a 3D Touch technology-based home button and packs a 3300mAh lithium-ion battery.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Review

Samsung has provided its highly precise S-Pen stylus with the Galaxy Note 8 to make it a distinguished model in the competition. Also, the handset has Bixby Voice integration with a dedicated button and Samsung Cloud support with storage space of up to 15GB to back up contacts and photos.
