Asus is set to host combined events in Milan and Taipei on October 16, where it will be unveiling the next iteration of its smartphone-tablet combo called the PadFone 2. With just one day to go for the event, a fresh set of images have leaked, courtesy @evleaks via Twitter.

The product's existence is real as showcased in a hands-on video by Bloomberg TV where Asus CEO, Jerry Chen, is seen giving a quick walkthrough. The smartphone in the PadFone 2 will sport a 4.7-inch HD resolution display. The camera specs have now been beefed up to 13MP as opposed to the 8MP in the original PadFone.

With the PadFone already available in India priced at Rs. 64,999, the company is looking to improve upon the docking mechanism of this unique device, which is also expected to be more thinner and lighter. The dock has been redesigned to do away with the door-opening flip cover with a thinner exposed sliding one.

Though not many other details were revealed in the video, an earlier detailed specs leak via mobile01 showed that the Asus PadFone 2 will feature LTE+HSPA support, a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor, 2GB RAM and 4.7-inch Super IPS+ HD display (1280x720 pixels). The 13MP autofocus rear camera is likely to come with LED flash and Zero shutter lag. It is expected to feature 1080p HD video recording. There's a 1.2MP front camera as well.
