BlackBerry has announced the introduction of new EMI schemes for its flagship BlackBerry Z10 smartphone and its entry-level offering, the BlackBerry Curve 9220.

Customers can now buy the BlackBerry Z10 or BlackBerry Curve 9220 via their credit cards offered by select banks over EMI. The EMI for the BlackBerry Z10 (Review | Pictures) is Rs. 4,799 per month for 9 months. A similar scheme for BlackBerry Curve 9220 (Review | Pictures) is available where customers can use their credit card to buy the device and pay an EMI of Rs 799 per month for 12 months. Both the schemes have the zero down payment, zero processing fee and zero interest.

BlackBerry Z10 is company's flagship full-touch phone that runs of the brand new BlackBerry 10 OS (Review) and comes with a 4.2-inch LCD screen with a 768x1280 resolution. The device is powered by a dual-core processor that clocks at 1.5GHz alongside 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. It has an 8-megapixel rear camera that can capture 1080p videos and 2-megapixel camera in the front.

BlackBerry Curve 9220, on the other hand, is company's cheapest offering with a QWERTY keyboard that runs the dated BlackBerry 7 OS.

BlackBerry has tied up with Axis Bank, Citibank, HDFC bank, HSBC, ICICI Bank, Kotak, State Bank of India, and Standard Chartered, to offer this deal to customers.

According to the company, the plan will be rolled out in 3000 BlackBerry outlets across the country by this weekend.

The company also announced a tie up with Idea Cellular, where Idea customers across 8 regions can avail a 1GB per month data plan at just Rs. 999 per year. The eight regions are Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh.

Note: Story updated to indicate the Idea plan is 1GB per month, not unlimited, as notified by BlackBerry earlier.
