Gionee GN715 Launched With 5-Inch HD Display and LTE Support

Gionee has launched its GN715 smartphone, priced at CNY 1,699 (roughly Rs. 16,900) at the Beijing China International Exhibition Center gadgets expo this week. The new Gionee smartphone is exclusively available to buy from the company's online store. No details about global availability have been provided.

The Gionee GN715 runs Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box and comes with a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) display.

The smartphone is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon (unspecified version) processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. It comes with 8GB of inbuilt storage, which is further expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB). It sports an 8-megapixel rear camera, while there is a secondary 5-megapixel front-facing camera also onboard. Interestingly, the Gionee GN715 also features LED flash for both the front and rear cameras.

On the connectivity front, the Gionee GN715 offers 4G LTE, 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, Micro-USB 2.0, and Bluetooth 4.0 options. The smartphone packs a 2000mAh removable Li-ion battery with no word on talk time and standby time. Sized at 143x70.7x6.9mm, the smartphone is currently available in White colour variant.

Gionee, which still holds the record of creating the world's slimmest smartphone, Gionee S5.5, also teased a slimmer device last month.

The upcoming Gionee S5.1, according to the latest leaked specifications earlier this month, would measure 5.1mm in thickness. It is also expected to house a 4.8-inch HD AMOLED display; a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 (MSM8926) processor; an Adreno 305 GPU; 1GB of RAM; Micro-SIM support; an 8-megapixel rear camera; a 5-megapixel front camera; 16GB inbuilt storage (non-expandable); 4G LTE support; a 2100mAh battery, and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Gionee's Amigo 2.0 interface laid on top.
