Huawei seems to be gearing up to launch a new budget smartphone, which is now listed for pre-order at an e-commerce website in the US.

Dubbed Huawei Expo, the smartphone is also being referred to as Huawei SnapTo in the promotional materials in the online listing. We will have to wait for Huawei to confirm whether the smartphone will be launched as Huawei Expo or Huawei SnapTo. The smartphone is listed at Amazon in the US and is priced at $179.99 (approximately Rs. 11,200). The listing notes that the smartphone will be released on April 9 and will be available in Black and White colours.

It's worth noting that the pricing of the Huawei's Expo smartphone (aka Huawei SnapTo) is around that of Motorola's immensely popular Moto G (Gen 2), which was launched in India at Rs. 12,999 for the 16GB model. This might mean that the Chinese handset maker might be gearing up to launch the smartphone to directly compete with the second-generation Moto G.

According to the listed specifications, the Huawei SnapTo smartphone will feature a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) TFT LCD display and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM.

The Android 4.4-KitKat based handset includes 8GB of inbuilt storage and supports expandable storage via microSD card. The Huawei SnapTo sports a 5-megapixel rear camera while there is a 2-megapixel front camera also onboard. The smartphone is backed by a 2200mAh battery, while it supports AT&T and T-Mobile LTE bands.
