  • Lenovo confirmed the news
  • No official word on the launch of the Moto Z2 Play

Lenovo has just confirmed a detail of the Moto Z2 Play smartphone ahead of any official announcement. Replying to a user on Twitter, Lenovo's Twitter handle has just confirmed that the Moto Z2 Play, which is believed to be the successor to the Moto Z Play, will pack a 3000mAh non-removable battery.

"Moto Z2 Play has Non-removable Li-Ion 3000mAh battery," the company wrote in a tweet. The confirmation is in-line to an earlier report that claimed the Moto Z2 Play will sport a smaller battery than its predecessor. The move to opt for a smaller battery size on the Moto Z2 Play could be an attempt to reduce the overall thickness. To recall, the Moto Z Play came with a larger 3510mAh battery, and measured 7mm in thickness.

We can expect Lenovo to reveal few more details of the Z2 Play smartphone ahead of an official launch. Based on preliminary leaks, the phone is expected to sport a similar design as its predecessor.

Additionally, the phone has also been spotted at TENAA, the Chinese certification site, showing the design of the 'unannounced' Moto Z2 Play. The Chinese certification listing claims some details including 5.99mm thickness of the Moto Z2 Play. Other specifications listed include a 5.5-inch full-HD Amoled display; powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. The handset is seen packing 64GB of inbuilt storage. Previous report said that the Moto Z2 Play will come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 processor under the hood.
