  • Moto Z2 Play has been spotted on GFXBench
  • The test matches the previously reported specifications
  • A 3000mAh battery has been confirmed by the company

Lenovo brand Moto appears to be moving ahead with its rumoured Moto Z2 Play smartphone, the successor to the Moto Z Play. Earlier this week, the Moto Z2 Play was reported to have received TENAA certification, also revealing the design and specifications of the smartphone. Now, the smartphone has been spotted on the GFXBench performance benchmark site, and the results match the specifications earlier revealed in the TENAA listing.

The parent company Lenovo in a tweet confirmed earlier this week that the Moto Z2 Play will bear just a 3000mAh non-removable battery, a significant level down from the predecessor Moto Z Play, which has 3510mAh battery under the hood.

According to the GFXBench results, spotted by MobileXpose, the Moto Z2 Play is corroborated to sport a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display, 4GB of RAM, and run Android 7.1.1 Nougat. It will be powered by an 2.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 SoC, which is a slight better processor than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 found in Moto Z Play. On the graphics part, Moto Z2 Play will house Adreno 506 with OpenGL ES 3.2 hardware acceleration functionality.

For photography, there is a little trade-off coming in Moto Z2 Play. While the predecessor Moto Z Play had a 16-megapixel rear camera, the Moto Z2 Play can be seen packing in a less-specced 12-megapixel camera with video recording up to 4K resolution. On the front, it will have the same 5-megapixel camera. It is also expected to have 64GB of inbuilt storage, with a possible expandability via microSD card.

While there is no official information on the date and time of the launch of Moto Z2 Play from the company, a recent press render leak suggested that the device could be unveiled on June 8, the same week when Apple will be busy with its annual developer conference WWDC 2017.
