Reports from Korea suggest that Samsung and Facebook might come together to reveal a new Facebook phone.

Korea Times reports that the top executives from both the companies have also agreed to jointly develop mobile content. According to the daily, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg met Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong at the company's main office in Seocho, Southern Seoul, late on Tuesday. The meeting was reportedly also attended by Jong-Kyun Shin, President and Head of IT and Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics.

As of now, details regarding the second Facebook phone (after the HTC First) rumoured to be built by Samsung are limited.

The Korean reports notes that the meeting was a "win-win" for both companies. An official was quoted by the Korea Times to say, "As Facebook is focusing on an ecosystem in social networks, the company needs a trustable business partner in hardware and I believe Samsung is the right company."

Further, the report added, "They also discussed some futuristic business projects because officials at Samsung Open Innovation Centre in Silicon Valley also flew to Korea to address some challenging issues that the parties are facing."

Notably, Samsung has already worked with Facebook (that bought Oculus) for the Gear VR virtual headset.

We can expect that the meeting between Facebook and Samsung might also result in more than just a Facebook phone. GforGames speculates that in future we can expect more Facebook apps preloaded on Samsung devices while also tipping that this could lead to a wearable release from Facebook.

For those unaware, Facebook had tried entering the mobile segment with an HTC-made phone called the First that came with Facebook Home out-of-the-box. It was launched in the US, France, and the UK. However, the phone saw dismal sales, especially in the US market.

Facebook also rolled out its Facebook Home launcher for Android phones including some select Samsung handsets, but it received harsh reviews from users despite passing a milestone of 500,000 downloads.
