While Twitter is still mum on this upcoming overhaul, Pankaj Gupta, who is lead of personalisation and recommender systems at Twitter, teased that the change is going to be "enormous".

Company has been introducing quite a few changes in the last few weeks. One such change was the introduction of tailored trends, which would help users to customise trending topics based on their interests and preferences.

Coming back to the new changes that Twitter plans to launch, search and discovery are two very important aspects for any social networking experience and it would be interesting to see what this microblogging website in planning.

In order to present it as news source, company has introduced the discover feature in December last year. Discover tab is all about finding out new content, it shows curated tweets from people you don't follow, or what's happening near you in realtime.

As of March 2012, Twitter had 140 million active users and traffic of 340 million tweets per day. In the recently held Euro Cup final, Twitter created a new record of witnessing 15,000 tweets per second.
