Apple claims to have fixed bug causing iOS, Mac apps to crash

Late Thursday night Apple released a statement saying it fixed the bug that was causing iOS and Mac apps downloaded from its App Store to crash.

"We had a temporary issue that began yesterday with a server that generated DRM code for some apps being downloaded," Apple said in a statement to AllThingsD. Apple said it affected only a small number of users.

"The issue has been rectified and we don't expect it to occur again," Apple said.

Apple has requested affected users to re-download the problematic apps.

Several iOS and Mac applications had been reportedly crashing in the past few days due to corrupt App Store updates. The problem was first brought to notice by Instapaper creator Marco Arment. (See: iOS and Mac apps reportedly crashing due to corrupt App Store updates)

Apps that had been reported to be facing the problem include Angry Birds Space HD Free, PDX Bus, Readdle Scanner Pro, Gaia GPS, Pair, Redshift, Flick Soccer, iBike Moto, Please Stay Calm, Pinball Maniacs, Pinball Maniacs, Stack the States, Threadnote, Checkout Helper, Metronome+, Phoster, Melodies Pro, MoPho, SMARTReporter (Mac) and Good Reader.

So if you've experienced any problems with any of these apps recently, try re-downloading them from the App Store.
