BSNL is offering Amazon Prime service for Bharat Fiber customers using 18GB and above plans

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on Tuesday announced that it has started offering Amazon Prime membership worth Rs. 999 to select Bharat Fiber customers. The new offer comes just weeks after the state-owned telco launched its Bharat Fiber service in the country to counter the Jio GigaFiber service. The service, as its name suggests, is designed to offer fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) broadband access with 35GB data per day for domestic use at as low as Rs. 1.1 per GB. BSNL also offers half-yearly broadband plans to compete against Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio that both are serving their customers with similar offerings.

With the fresh move, customers having BSNL Bharat Fiber service with 18GB (Rs. 777 per month) and above plans can get the annual Amazon Prime membership for free. The membership can also be activated through the BSNL website after purchasing an eligible plan directly from the BSNL website.

"We understand the entertainment needs of our customers and have been putting together the technologies and products that work the best for our customers," said Vivek Banzal, Director CFA, BSNL said, in a joint statement. "Amazon Prime has been well accepted by Indian audience and we are hence giving the most preferred choice to our customers to own and enjoy the basket of benefits that Prime membership offers. We are doing more online engagements with customers as this brings enormous customer satisfaction and cuts down on our costs also in delivering excellent customer services."

As Amazon Prime membership comes with access to Prime Video and Prime Music, BSNL Bharat Fiber customers can use both the services on their supported devices. Amazon Prime members can also access e-books and get free fast delivery of various items as well as avail early access to deals and discounts on Amazon.in.

"Eligible BSNL BharatFiber customers can now experience Amazon Prime as a part of their plan," said Akshay Sahi, Director and Head of Amazon Prime India, in the statement. "We believe these subscribers will love the many benefits of Prime and enjoy unlimited shopping, shipping, and entertainment."

It is significant to point out this isn't the first time when BSNL has tied up with Amazon India to offer annual Prime membership to its customers. The operator back in October last year announced a free Prime subscription for its postpaid and broadband subscribers. Airtel and Vodafone also offer Prime membership to their postpaid subscribers. Moreover, select Airtel broadband subscribers were also provided with a free one-year subscription to Amazon Prime membership.

To recall, BSNL launched its Bharat Fiber high-speed, FTTH broadband service in India last month. The telco is aiming to provide Internet access to "every home" in the country and ultimately countering the Jio GigaFiber service that debuted last year but is yet to see a broader rollout.
