Withings launched the Activite Pop health-tracking watch over the weekend ahead of CES 2015 event. The device is already available in the market.

Interestingly, Withings has introduced the Withings Activite Pop health-tracking watch at a much lower price of $150 (roughly Rs. 9,500) compared to its predecessor - which was priced at $450 (roughly Rs. 28,500). The predecessor, Withings Activite, was introduced last month featuring a curved sapphire crystal dome and stainless steel finishing.

It is also worth mentioning that the new Withings Activite Pop costs less than the e-strap ($250 (roughly Rs. 15,800)) launched by popular luxury brand Montblanc last week.

Withings Activite Pop features a waterproof silicone band and includes an additional daily fitness goal needle on the dial that moves from 0 to 100 as the user meets the 10,000-steps goal. Like its predecessor, the Activite Pop supports Bluetooth connectivity and uses it to pair with the Withings HealthMate app, which is available for iOS only right now - an Android companion app is coming soon. The device also monitors the user's sleep.

The wearable can last for up to 8 months after which the battery needs to be changed. It is also water resistant to 30 metres and can vibrate to wake up the user if an alarm is set in the app.

Withings, unlike other tech-focused companies, is new to the wearable market and is likely to gain popularity based on the budget Activite Pop offering. Available in three colours: Azure, Shark and Gray, the Activite Pop is not a smartwatch like the Samsung Gear S or Moto 360, which feature their own app ecosystem. However, its basic health-tracking functionalities with simple-yet-attractive design might prove to be successful step in eating a small share from the massive wearable tech market pie.
