Airtel data rollover facility extended to broadband users
Airtel broadband users will now be able to consume leftover data from one billing cycle in the following months. This is part of the company’s data rollover facility, and allows broadband users to accumulate up to 1,000GB data. However, not all plans will come with this feature, and even the select plans will vary from circle to circle; users can check the myAirtel app to find out if their plan is eligible for the offer. Also, if they switch from the current plan to a lower-priced one, they will lose the accumulated data.

Vodafone too announced some new benefits for its postpaid users who subscribe to the new RED Traveller, RED International and RED Signature plans. The benefits include data rollover facility, free national roaming, Nextflix access for up to 12 months, handset theft and damage protection, and access to Magzter magazine app. However, these plans will not be available in circles such as Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

Apple makes 64 percent gross margin from iPhone X
Teardown firm TechInsights says the iPhone X costs $357.50 (approximately Rs. 23,200) to make, pegging the gross margin on the $999 (roughly Rs. 64,800) handset at 64 percent. This is even higher than the 59 percent gross margin the company enjoys on the iPhone 8. Of course, there are several costs attached on top of the manufacturing cost before the final price is decided, such as marketing expenditure and logistic costs - not to mention research and development costs that go towards the development of a product - so the actual profit margin from iPhone X would likely be lower for Apple.

iPhone X beats Samsung Galaxy Note 8 in imaging benchmark
iPhone X came out ahead of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy Note 8 as well as its own sibling iPhone 8 Plus in DxOMark rankings, but was unable to unseat Google Pixel 2 from the pole position. It got the top rank for still photographs with a score of 101 but scored a relatively low 89 in videos, ending up with a cumulative score of 97. This score gave the iPhone X the joint second place in DxOMark rankings, alongside Huawei Mate 10 Pro but behind the Pixel 2.

Talking about Pixel 2, the handset and its sibling Pixel 2 XL received the monthly Android security update. It introduced a new Saturated colour mode to the phones that defaults the colour saturation, along with some UI changes designed to extend the life of the OLED panel. However, the blue tint issue still remains on the second-generation Pixel handsets as there's no software fix for that. On the other hand, DisplayMate ranked iPhone X’s screen as the “most colour accurate display” it has tested.

Idea launches unlimited calling plan, offers 60GB complimentary data with select Sony phones
Idea has launched a Rs. 179 plan with unlimited local and STD calls across all networks, and 28-day validity. Nonetheless, Idea is still providing 1GB data with this plan, and another 1GB free data for recharges purchased online with this prepaid recharge pack.

Vivo Y79 with 18:9 display, 24-megapixel selfie camera launched
Chinese brand Vivo has launched the Y79 smartphone with 5.99-inch display featuring an 18:9 aspect ratio and 24-megapixel front camera and soft selfie light in its home country. The new Vivo smartphone is priced at CNY 2,498 (about Rs. 24,500) and will start shipping on November 11, which is the Single's Day celebration in China. However, one downer for buyers would be the rather low HD+ (720x1440px) resolution considering the mid-range price. Other key features of Vivo Y79 include the octa-core Snapdragon 625 chipset, 4GB RAM, 16-megapixel rear camera, Android 7.1 Nougat OS and 3225mAh battery.
