Charles Sanders (Aug 22, 2018) on Amazon
I actually bought this for the mechanical keyboard and its placement, as well as the amazing specs. As a developer I can tell a difference in how smoothly everything runs, no hiccups even when running multiple microservices , docker, intellij, all running at the same time. The sound was the biggest surprise, its immersive. The graphics are amazing but I usually just run Civ5 - even completely maxed out you can multi-task when its running. The laptop gets hot, but I havent noticed a different in temp when using a cooling pad so I think its hot in certain spots by design. The mouse - track pad thing, is pretty decent in a pinch. I almost never use a trackpad though - and honestly you couldnt use it for long periods of time. It's really been a delight so far, time will tell.Oh Linux Users BEWARE: Ive had 0 luck trying to dual boot Ubuntu so far, there is known problems with this. I have settled for Linux Subsystem - Ubuntu .

This laptop is a true beast. The stats speak for themselves. Fast processor, powerful GPU, ready to play the most taxing games. I tested it with Fallout 4 and it was more than up to the task. (Note: I had to change Nvidia settings so V-sync was 60, otherwise the game ran too fast. This is a Fallout 4 issue, not a Predator issue). Yes, the fans get loud when the action (and the laptop) get hot, but that's to be expected. Put on some headphones and it won't be an issue. Or hook up some speakers. The screen is beautiful, the keyboard has nice mechanical tactile response. Click! Acer has truly outdone themselves with this beautiful laptop. Get a gaming mouse (the trackpad is just not going to do it for you, sorry) and get gaming!

  • Beautiful, Powerful Laptop
MHC (Sep 8, 2018) on Amazon
This laptop is outstanding, there's no comparison to the previous laptops I have owned. It is also little heavier and bigger than those previous laptops, but it is also thinner. It has great sound, and a beautiful display, as well as a backlit keyboard, which is responsive and truly functional. We use the laptop for everyday computing, and also for gaming, having two avid gamers in our family. This laptop almost has it all! We're not crazy about the awkward location of the touchpad, although it does become easier to use over time. For gaming we use a gaming mouse. We also miss having a disc drive, and will be purchasing an external cd/dvd drive, as we travel a lot, especially internationally, and like to have some entertainment available.I think the high end components used to build this laptop tell the story of a wonderful, nearly perfect machine.

  • 4 1/2 Stars for an Outstanding Laptop
Book Fanatic (Aug 5, 2018) on Amazon
This is really an outstanding, if expensive, laptop. I'm giving it 4 1/2 stars. I'm taking 1/2 a star off due to the ridiculous touchpad location and characteristics. As other reviewers have noted, placing the touchpad above the keyboard is an ergonomic disaster. I simply do not understand why this was done and suspect it has to be some engineering issue because otherwise no computer user would ever do this. Other than that however I can find nothing to complain about and many things to rave about. The speed is simply outstanding. The screen is exceptional. The keyboard is good and responsive. The fans are superb and quiet. Highly recommended if you can afford it.

  • Super stylish super fast laptop
    SP3204 (Aug 4, 2018) on Amazon
Don't make the mistake of thinking this is just a gaming laptop. I think this is the perfect answer for something that is equally good at home and business use and gaming. It's a stylishly defined performance laptop that is extraordinarily good in both worlds. Setting it on the conference room table doesn't scream gamer, but there enough style to it that it's clearly not your father's laptop.I've always had Dell Latitude laptops, mainly because they are commercial level quality. This is as good a build quality as anything I've owned before. I really like the somewhat minimlist design look, but it still has an edginess to it. It's not in your face with flashing red dinosaurs as it could have been, but does have a nice logo that's very visible. It's pretty thin also, and it's all metal - but it's not a tank, it's a really competent machine that's built really well.As you would expect, it's very fast - for the CPU, GPU, solid state drive and 32 gig of memory. For everyday use, it's super. Gaming is also great, though the touchpad is very oddly placed, but in a way the touchpad is just an expected thing that not many people use (I don't, unless I have to - I use trackballs or cordless mice.) But I have to say, I am seriously impressed with Acer.Things I don't like - some thoughtsPower key - to me, worst place ever. It's so easy to hit when you are just shifting the laptop around or picking it up. The two LED indicators tell me where it is, but I still seem to be able to tap it. I set the action to sleep so I am not shutting it down. The keyboard is a little hard to get used to, without a touchpad and buttons below it. Not all of the symbols are backlit (example, the 4 is lit, but the "$" is not. I would have liked to have this as a selectable option if possible. The touchpad. I had thought it would be a state of the art device like the rest of the machine, but while usable, it's hard to deal with - the entire glass is not usable as a touch surface, only a section marked with dim markings. There are no left and right buttons, but you can learn some gestures to make up for that. In reality though, I use a mouse and trackball most of the time, so it's not a huge dealbreaker. Still, for the price point, something better is expected. The power plug. It's fine on the desk, but I use a lap-table and the right-angle plug, combined with the big coil (that round thing on the wire) keeps conspiring to unplug it. I'm rigging up some velcro to hold the cord in place.Things I like - more thoughtsEasy setup. It's Windows 10, of course, but it was fast and easy from the get-go and I was up and running very quickly.Boot and wake time - the SSD makes this super fast, so nice for someone used to conventional hard drives - it's a lot faster than a Dell Inspiron I have with an SSD.The RGB keyboard - love it. Aside from getting used to a new layout, I like the feel of the keys. They are mechanical, but not loud either. Really nice feel. The lighting is simply fabulous. You can make it be functional (certain colors for certain areas or functions) or fun (waving color pulses, and a bunch of different animations). It's the best I've seen - the characters are crisp and clean and the lighting itelf is even and vivid.Screen - very vivid, fast (120) refresh rate, it's really nice to use. The color accuracy is excellent, in my opinion.Sound. No big bass here, but the sound is very adequate and points up at you from the keyboard area. It's very spatial, stereo is very evident. Dolby Atmos support is really nice, and stunning on headphones.Really thin - and amazingly light for the hardware it packs.Things I LOVEThe keyboard lighting customization - love love love this. The keybard feel is super - positive but not clacky.Beautiful bright display. Sharp and perfect colors out of the box (only HD, no 1440 or 4K, but superb 1080)Scorchingly fast. Super speedy graphics. Great styling and feel. It's really an awesome laptop, the best I've owned since the beginning of laptops (for me, think Windows 2000!) It's just a pleasure to use.

  • Quirky laptop with sweet perks
Kevin (Nov 12, 2018) on Amazon
This laptop has had my eye for quite some time now so since it went on sale I wanted to beat the Black Friday rush and get my hands on one. It has awesome specs for how thin it is and can even be overclocked which is crazy for a laptop this small. The mechanical keyboard will take some time to get used to because of the low-profile switches and the weird placement but once you do it feels awesome to use and even though it feels better for typing than gaming, I never really felt like I was being held back which is something you cant take for granted on most laptop keyboards. The trackpad has no physical buttons, but still feels ok to use likely thanks to the Gorilla Glass surface similar to alot of modern-day smartphones, and can even be used with a gaming mouse without fiddling with mouse sensitivity settings because the trackpad is independent from that.Overall, if you can deal with a smaller battery and a high price, the Triton 700 is an awesome laptop and I highly recommend it

Roberto (Nov 11, 2018) on Amazon
So happy with this powerful laptop. Super fast and thinner than I would have guessed. Especially with how powerful this machine is. It gets hot with usage so I would suggest a cooling pad with it. After 2 years of using it still is top of the line. Still runs everything I throw at it with ease.

  • Awesome Gaming Laptop!
    Ken D (Oct 28, 2018) on Amazon
I've had this bad boy for a few days now, and I must say that I'm loving it!Here are few thought...CPU: I7 7700HQ, a bit older, a generation behind the new 6 core cpu's that are out now, but still good enuf for games today and runs cooler then the 8750H.RAM: My unit came with 32gb of 2666 Kingston Ram (I'd by CPU-Z). Pretty snappy stuff.GPU: I got the 1080 Max-Q version. Cut's thru games like a hot knife thru butter.HD: I opted for the single stick of 512gb, this way I can add another M.2 stick later on. Quick Drive.SCREEN: Nice & bright screen. Colors pop, and look accurate. G-sync & 120hz work nicely.KEYBOARD: I really like the mechanical keyboard. Clicks are there, but not too loud or annoying. The RGB is a nice touch. I like the position of it, being on the bottom, since I have bigger hands.TRACKPAD: I don't mind the position of it since I use a mouse 99.9% of the time. It didn't take long to get used to it, and it's usable in a pinch.BATTERY: The battery doesn't last too long, but knowing I was getting 1080 max-q, I didn't expect long battery life. work fine for web surfing and checking emails. Just won't last long for playing a game.BUILD QUALITY: Good materials. Nice and sturdy, just they way I like it. No creaking, and very little flex.THERMALS/HEAT: I haven't had any Thermal Throttling issues. I've run benchmarks and haven't seen any Cpu temps over 82*, Gpu nothing over 77*.PRICE: This is the worst thing about this Laptop, if you can just get past that, you get a Awesome Gaming Laptop! I am very pleased :)

  • Many professional reviews did not do justice
Orlando (Apr 14, 2020) on Amazon
I conducted weeks of research towards a laptop that would meet my gaming and photo editing demands and fit the aesthetic profile. I zeroed in on the Acer Predator Triton 700 15? due to its unique design and material infrastructure and competent abilities. I read many professional reviews and decided the cons ?touchpad placement?, ?touch pad glass heating issues?, ?bezel screen edges?, ?No 4-k display? - were not reasons enough to deter me from investing. Whereas I noticed other laptops from major brands having other cons that were more impactful on performance/ease-of-use. No regrets and I have enjoyed the Triton 700 as much as I envisioned.

  • Its a beast
    S. Trobaugh (Aug 4, 2019) on Amazon
So far so good. This thing is beast. Just a heads up there are no 2.5" SSDs in this and there are no slots for them. Comes with one M.2 installed and room for another. Battlefield, Minecraft, Fallout, Fortnite. All play on Max Settings and are smooth! Battery life is better than i thought it would be for web browsing and spreadsheets on Gaming Laptop. Ofcoase while gaming im always plugged in. If your like me and want to keep on charger at the house and one in your bag they are quite expensive. Overall excellent laptop would buy again.

  • Awesome Laptop for price
SassyPants (Dec 30, 2018) on Amazon
Pros:GTX 1080 Max Q is fantastic. Breezes through Skyrim VR and Monster Hunter World on max settings. Maxes out Steam's VR test.It looks great, and despite being thin and light, it's built like a (very light) tank. The screen looks great. The speakers sounds great (except when you enter a game)Cons:The sound turns down in-game. This is mitigated by earphones, but that's still annoying.Battery life is only two hoursFYI:Keyboard makes a clicking sound, which may be annoying for some. There's no quiet typing in bed while my wife sleeps with this laptop.Trackpad works well, but it's at the top of the laptop. Moreover, I still haven't figured out how to right click with it. Definitely need a separate mouse for effective use.You can hear the fans, but thus far the fans have been able to keep the graphics card and processor at or below 80 degrees under significant load. The speakers are loud enough that it more than covers the sound of the fans.It truly is an awesome laptop, and an absolute pleasure to play on. The $2000 price tag is unbeatable with these components. For the fun of it, I ran a Windows Index score and got a 9.1 limited by its hard drive. The GTX 1080 pulls a 9.9 graphics score.

  • WOULD LIKE TO DO 5 STARS BUT...
    C. Dunbar (Mar 15, 2020) on Amazon
My only issue with this laptop is that it runs super hot. I mean hot enough to burn skin.Seems this should be a non-issue these days. Also was advertised as having state of the art cooling system.Far as I can see there is little or no cooling happening with this one!I have to shut down quite often to allow for cooling so long term usage is problematic for sure.Just be advised that this can get dangerously hot.

Buyer be ware:I brought this laptop and within just 3 uses the screen now shows damage on the lce pixel screen. What I suspect is that after I closed it during just a regular use, the heat from the board and fan damaged the internal liquid. Going to need to send back for service. Which there was some sort if warning not to close the screen immediatelt after use!

  • acer support is garbage
Lightswitch (Jan 1, 2019) on Amazon
This is a high end laptop, and I expect quality customer support for it. But when I called the support line, I had to wait for over 30 minutes, and I spoke to a rep that I could barely understand and who was probably less knowledgeable about computers than me. Chat support was equally useless, suggesting a "fix" that would cost ~$1400. yeah, the computer works great, but the support is infuriatingly poor.

  • This Design Tho
    Jonny S (Dec 30, 2018) on Amazon
Worst idea to put the trackpad behind the keyboard. Impossible to navigate comfortably - you basically can't use the trackpad. I had to attach a mouse and use an external monitor/keyboard to use this. The fact that I already had to compromise and accommodate right out of the box is reason enough to return the product. Now, if the awful design doesn't make you run away screaming, the actual performance of this computer is great. It is powerful and the fans work as intended. But if you're trying to use this as an actual laptop - you will most likely open it, go WTF and return it like I did. Acer - if you are listening, please do not design your products this way. It will make your loyal customers flee, like it did with me.Trying out a lesser known brand: Eluktronics. Very similar to specs of this one, but $100 cheaper. I'll leave a review once I play around with that one more. Happy holidays, all.

    KCxx2 (Jan 11, 2019) on Amazon
Purchased two laptops, same specs. Received on different days, second one had wrong specifiactions, did not realize until wasted 3hrs setup and then realized no sparem.2 slot, it had two used slots instead of 1. On further checking also only had 16GB RAM instead of 32GB, and dated 2017/11!!! Very poor QA, not happy with wasted time and effort!
