  • Decent for heavy development and moderate gaming
Wizardo (Oct 20, 2018) on Amazon
After some in-depth review, I decided that this laptop would suit my needs. I've owned it for over a month and so far I can't say a bad word about it. I do fairly heavy web development and moderate gaming and this can handle both quite well. It works to play newer games on low-med settings, but it's never loud.. just warm enough that it shouldn't be on your lap for extended periods of time. Startup and loading programs is lightening quick.I generally run Eclipse, mysql, a few other dev tools, and a game simultaneously. No complaints so far!

  • Great Laptop
Allen Keller (Sep 25, 2018) on Amazon
Received it yesterday. Nice and lightweight, easy to tote around in my laptop shoulder bag. Beautiful glossy screen (comes with 'gorilla glass'). Excellent specs for the price. I'll be using it for school work, but the specs appear suitable for light gaming as well. I highly recommend the laptop.

Demnu (Aug 22, 2018) on Amazon
Arrived much earlier than expected. Great build quality full aluminium. Allows me to play World of Warcraft/minecraft smoothly, great bang for your buck!EDIT: For some reason the price has jumped to $1300? I bought this when it was $990. Just a heads up

  • Probably one of the best laptops you can buy for the money! If you get a working one...
    Shoman24v (Nov 13, 2018) on Amazon
2/1/2019 - Update to this review. I ended up getting a replacement due to the issues I mentioned below (VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR, DRIVER_POWER_STATE and constant WiFi drops). I thought it may have been because of the Windows 10 install, so I did a fresh install on a cleaned drive. No change in the issues. I then received a second PC. This one was much better, but the WiFi kept dropping no matter what changes I made in the OS. I decided I can't live with the PC WiFi cutting out that much, so I got a refund. I did really enjoy this PC. If you get a working one, you won't be disappointed._____________________Keeping in mind that this is a sub $700 ultra-thin PC... I cannot express enough how much I love this laptop. I have had this machine in my cart for quite a while knowing I would pick it up at some point. Most of the time I looked at it, it was priced at $749.99, then it was priced at $649.99 so I ended up picking it up.I picked up the the model with the nVidia MX150 and 256gb SSD, not as a gaming machine, but knowing I have piece of mind that I have a PC that doesn't have only integrated graphics.Let me start off with some of the issues I have with the device. NOTE: none of these are deal breakers to me, but some of the things I noticed with the device.Cons:- Fingerprint reader never seems to want to work properly for me. Not that it doesn't work, I usually cannot get my finger in the right spot for it to read. It may be the way I am setting my fingers up.- At certain angles, the keyboard back light can be seen.- Can be difficult to open because there's no notch for you to grab.- Bloatware (all can be uninstalled).- Random crashes related to VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR (I believe related to the integrated video driver, haven't tried to fix).- Downward firing speakers can get muffled when PC is not a flat solid surface.- No touchscreen :(Pros:- Looks beautiful!- Intel Coffee Lake Core i5 8250U quad core CPU.- 8GB of ram and 256GB SSD.- Dedicated graphics that switch off when not in use (nVidia MX150 w/2GB ram).- IPS Screen with 1080p resolution.- Excellent battery life (set Intel graphics settings to maximum battery).- FULL SIZE PORTS 2 USB 3.0, 1 USB 2.0, USB-C, HDMI, SD, 3.5mm headphone.- Speakers sound great.- Beautiful aluminum finish.- Gorilla glass protecting screen.- Keyboard has a great feel.- $500/$700 less than 2018 Macbook air which is similarly spec'd (minus dedicated graphics).Overall, I recommend this PC to anyone looking for a nice ultra-thin laptop at a price I you really can't say no to. It's fast, quiet, and has great battery life. It has a few cons that may be a big deal to some, but if you consider the price point of this laptop, I don't feel they are really that big of a deal.

  • Very very good laptop!
Raissa (Nov 10, 2018) on Amazon
The laptop is very light, strong and battery last a long time without wire. SSD makes it vary fast, what for me is a very very strong point. You can add an extra SSD m.2 if you want as well if you think 250GB isn't enough for you (max is 500GB). I didn't play any heavy game yet so I don't know how it would behave. One weak point is that it have a built-in battery, so if it starts to fail you can't just easily buy another to replace it. Anyway its an excellent laptop!! With a really good cost-benefit and I totally recommend it!

  • Great Laptop
Corey (Dec 1, 2018) on Amazon
I have only had this laptop for about a week. Great deal on Cyber Monday. This is the Special addition with a white top covered by glass. It's a clean look, but the white top takes some getting use to. I wanted a laptop for productivity mainly (hobbyist photo/video editor). The battery is average (3-4 hours) when settings are at highest performance, connected to WiFi, multitasking... etc. when not plugged in.The battery life is amazing at 7+ hours when not connected to the internet, on recommended settings, screen brightness 2 clicks down while performing editing functions. At these settings the laptop still performs flawlessly when it comes to productivity. The screen is brightness is average, but I'm going to be using it while traveling on dimly lit flights and car rides. The matte finish does a nice job reducing reflections pretty well.Gaming - it works. The MX150 dedicated graphics works well for editing (more taxing on CPU) while allowing for some gaming. I didn't buy it for gaming, but will do some light gaming on it. It will play newer titles at low settings at a frame rate where you can enjoy the game (Sims 4, Battlefield, Fortnite... etc.). Lesser taxing games will run smoothly at higher settings (Steam games, older games). All in all, if you're someone like me who enjoys the occasional game, but focuses on creating content as a hobbyist , this laptop is great! If you're a professional video editor, you may want to look at a 16 gb version. But if you're like me who wants a personal computer that can do everything, future proof for 3-4 years and enjoys editing with some light gaming. This computer will suite you well!

  • Excellent design and value
    V. Chan (Nov 4, 2018) on Amazon
This is one of the best budget gaming notebooks available. The MX150 graphics accelerator will allow you to play many games at 1080p on medium settings smoothly. I played Battletech as well as Dragonquest X with zero issues. The screen is nice but beware it is glossy so put in a location with minimal glare. Not really suitable for outdoors use.The 256 GB SSD is very decent model Intel 600p. But you can upgrade it to a bigger m.2 nmve ssd like I did with not too many issues. The only tricky part is opening it up.Unlike another poster here said, don't be fooled. It only has room to swap the SSD for another one. There are not two SSD memory slots.Would buy again as it is light enough to carry around at 3.75 lbs and take to your classroom or your friend's house to hang out.Like I said it's a great value, you usually don't find these specs on a sub $1,000 laptop. I'd buy it again, I just wish it had dual SSD expansion slots instead of just the one.

  • Great laptop for travel and light gaming
Taylor AuBuchon (Nov 1, 2018) on Amazon
I bought this laptop to use while traveling for work purposes and light gaming, which it fit the bill for wonderfully. It doesn't have the best build quality out there, but you can tell that from the price. It's nice and light, quick, and can handle light games easily. Very satisfied.:^)

  • Not thin. Not light. Not an Ultrabook.
Isaac (Dec 1, 2018) on Amazon
I am mainly leaving this review to clarify that this computer is niether thin nor light. The specs are good for the price, but if you are looking for an "Ultrabook", this is not for you. I want to point this out because the item description makes it sound like it is thin and light. It is not. It is thick and heavy. If that doesn't matter to you, then you will likely be pleased with this laptop. I was not, and have returned it.

  • Decent hardware, decent build, bad battery luck
Weston (Nov 15, 2018) on Amazon
The overall build quality is good for the amount of money you pay, but the battery should not have completely died after a handful of months. I bought the unit to study with around the house a few times per week, so it wasn't being discharged every day or anything crazy. The screen also has a decent amount of backlight bleed, but really only noticable on a pure black image in my case.A later edit: Acer repaired the unit (claiming the main board, and battery) & the replacement unit has been working just fine, with minimal wear on battery life percentage. Typical battery span for my usage is 5-7 hours (vscode, online classrooms, etc).

  • Fast, long battery life, but not durable and support is awful
Trevor Faith (Dec 11, 2018) on Amazon
The case is made of glass... yes the case is made of glass. I broke it within two weeks of buying it. Acer indicated it would cost $500 USD to repair. BUT they offered a discount to 400 USD. Needless to say I can't/will not be paying that. I understand that I broke it, so I'm willing to pay a repair cost, but 400-500 USD is absurd. Otherwise I've really liked this laptop especially after switching from a Mac, but I certainly will not be buying another Acer and would not recommend that others do due to the poor material choice making it easy to cause aesthetic damage.
