BUY THIS THING!! ok, seriously, this is THE deal of the season so far. Yes the new i5 has lower base clocks than last generations 7200, the better to extend battery life to right around 9-10 hours depending on what you are doin. However, Intel's new cpu management system jumps the cpu clocks, (All Four Cores) instantly up to 3.4 ghz whenever some power is needed:) The laptop is AMAZINGLY fast for a portable i5. Next, the new Nvidia MX150 gpu is astoundingly capable, (once you update all the nvidia graphics and intel graphics drivers). It appears that I can now play pretty much ALL of the current "A" list games at medium or better settings ON AN ULTRABOOK!!! Then you start listening for all the fan racket---WAIT!! There ISN't ANY:), How Acer pulled this off is beyond my understanding, but this thing stays both QUIET and COOL. I was just shaking my head in amazement. OK, on the screen, we're talking full Gorilla Glass lamination. It is Strong AND Tough. Now the glass does add a bit of reflection in the wrong light, but the screen is plenty bright, and the colors are deep and rich. Check mark for ACER fixing the prior Screen Complaints. Ok, next, you seen a macbook pro's port selection lately? YUK!, ACER has put them ALL in this one for you: The Hdmi out is FULL SIZE, (no fooling around with the delicate Micro jobs); The USB 3.0's (two of em) are also FULL SIZED, strong, and don't need adapters. PLUS, there is even a Full SIZED Legacy USB 2.0 port!! THEN you look and see a USB 3.1 Type C, and discover it actually works!:) AND a 3.5 audio plug for headphones AND Mic combo's. GOT a bunch of full sized SD cards full of photos etc? Acer got you covered with a fullsized reader. sooo, you can use the adapters for your cellphone SDHC, SDXC all that stuff and read em all :). Then there's the fingerprint reader for logins, Not too shabby and it worx sweet :) The keyboard is a joy to type on. YOu can write books on this thing w/o thinking about it, AND you can do it in total darkness cause it is BACKLIT:) The brushed metal chassis is Top Notch and beautiful without being plastic gawdy. The speakers can even fill a room with awfully decent sound unlike practially every other thin and light you've ever heard. I could go on and on, Oh, the included m2. SSD is actually NVME and FAST:) The Ram is Dual Channel:)Bottom line, I couldn't find a thing lacking in this thin and light all round do it all laptop. If you're only going to have one, this is the one to get. YOU can spend close to twice as much and get one heck of lot less. Only a professional Photo graphics production type who needs the ultimate in high rez screens and commercially required color conformity in their portable 'workstation' , might look elsewhere, on the other hand, for a personal take anywhere, and do anything laptop, I'll bet they would still want one of these. :) Unless, they are also artists who NEED a touch screen and Pen. and in that case, stay tuned for Acer's later models, this laptop lays out completely flat, i.e. 180 degrees, so its ready for a model with those people in mind.UPDATE: Oct 9, 2017. Ok, managed to open the laptop to peek inside. And, at least in MY laptop, some of the Acer provided answers to questions here appear incorrect.Inside is a second M2 80mm format storage slot. I have not yet confirmed whether it is a sata only M2, or another pcie 3/4 slot like the primary. According to My diagnostics it appears to be wired up, but will try to confirm within the next couple of days when i can get my hands on another M2. stick. Also, the existing m2 has an Intel 600p stick in it.-not as fast as the top line Samsung pro chips, but still darn fast and with a five year warranty!!Next the mem is indeed limited to 8gigs and is soldered to the mboard. The cooling system is quite robust with a single fan but two substantial copper heat pipes supplying the heat exhaust radiator. In general the interior is tidy, well laid out, and employs quality components.CAUTION, if you are not experienced in opening up precision laprtops/phones etc. do not even think about fishing around inside. You may seriously damage this laptop. However, that is not to say it cannot be opened, its just not for the inexperienced or faint of heart. One last thing, it IS possible to 'enhance' the performance of this laptop SUBSTANTIALY utilizing the Intel XTU utility, even to the point of exceeding the performance of the prev gen I7 7700Hq chip, which IS saying something.:) It makes it possible to code/encode vids etc. within a reasonalble time frame AND, IF you use a GOOD laptop cooler etc., you can also tweak the MX 150 and thus experience a considerable increase in gaming fps.Like I said, this laptop is a steal for the money.

    A.M (Sep 16, 2017) on Amazon
So far so good runs fast out of the box and fingerprint reading works 95% of the time. Loving the aluminum body and back-lit keyboards! Runs quite for web browsing and videos also battery life is pretty long on recommended settings. Will update if there is any problems long term but so far I'm loving it!

  • Powerful ultrabook for a good price
    Scott G (Nov 28, 2017) on Amazon
8250U and MX150 has been impressive in an ultrabook. Games run fluid with moderate settings. Like most complaints the screen isn't the brightest (at 100%) and there is some backlight bleeding but I only see it against a black screen. Could argue that a brighter screen would reduce unplugged battery time. If I dinged for anything (and I'm not) it's the absence of backlighting timeout control. Keyboard backlighting times out after 30sec even if plugged in. BIOS setting would be easy enough.

  • Nice solid metal build
Justin (Jan 27, 2018) on Amazon
Absolutely gorgeous! Nice solid metal build, good feeling keys, and ooooooh that glossy-full-glass screen. Very sleek. It's a light laptop, but not balanced well, so picking it up from a corner makes it feel heavier than it could.

  • Absolutely great value for money
Thomas (Jan 2, 2018) on Amazon
Absolutely great value for money. An ultrabook with an 8th generation Intel processor and a GeForce Mx150 graphic processor would typically sell for over $1,200.The fact that Acer is not considered a top brand and sometimes has quality control issues is definitely a consideration, but in this case, the tradeoff is more than acceptable.

  • Good laptop for everyday using
Marvollo (Mar 9, 2018) on Amazon
Good laptop for everyday using. Super fast and silent. Until you use browser or watch videos or some else light work it is absolutely silent! I can handle about 3 virtual machines with linux and it goes smooth. You can even play games at low or medium settings. A display is very bright for me, but has white spots in the corners on a black background, dont know why people complain it. It very hot if you play games, but i dont care coz im using gamepad. Fingerprint doesnt work very well, on my phone (Honor 9) its much more better.Sorry for my english, im from Russia

  • What I liked, and what I don't.
Rafael (Feb 19, 2018) on Amazon
What I liked the most is the benefit Price/quality. It is a great laptop for daily use and for an extra overload like gaming or designing. It is not super light but It met my expectations. If you are looking for a laptop with the last generation of Core i5 (8th gen), this is by far the best option in the market. Maybe the only thing I didn't like the most was the brightness of the screen. If you are working outdoors, it'll definitely lay you down, because the reflection is really clear.Taking that aside, I don't have any other complaint. I did a very good choice after looking for 20 different laptops on Amazon with this characteristics. This is the cheapest with the best ratio quality/price for me

  • Can play Witcher 3 on high settings!
    A (Feb 7, 2018) on Amazon
Been using this computer for 2 months now, no problems at all, really light and battery lasts 5+ hours of continuous use. The most important thing is that it can handle Overwatch, Witcher 3, without compromising on graphics. I was able to play Witcher 3 on high settings! Incredible!

  • Good for the price.
Maciej Wojcik (Jun 8, 2018) on Amazon
It is well built, a bit heavy for the size, but it doesn't feel cheap. I've used it for Inventor, Matlab, I've even made a CFX simulator and it doesn't throttle. It gets a bit warm in the upper side of laptop, but not hot. Under load, the Acer is relatably quiet. The screen is definitely too dim, but as long as you doesn't idę the laptop outside at noon, you're good to go.In overall, I recommend buying this laptop if you're looking for a portable multimedia device.

  • Best computer I have ever owned
Faethor Draconia (Jan 20, 2019) on Amazon
Less than a year ago, I purchased an ASUS laptop that has been the worst computer I have ever owned. It was impossibly slow to the point where it was unusable when opening programs and particularly when wanting more than one program open a time. I did my research and was impressed by all of the great reviews on the Swift 3 Acer laptop. This is the fasted computer I could ever imagine. With the Intel 7 chip and the solid state hard drive, it takes about a second to open any program, no matter how many other programs are open. I also really like that lighted keyboard, the size and the weight. Additionally, I love the NVIDIA graphic card that allows me to play all but the most graphic-intensive games. All of this for a amazing price (which I improved on having bought it on Cyber Monday sale). I could not be happier with this computer!

  • Great Laptop for the price
Alex Hearn (Feb 25, 2019) on Amazon
I got this as a second laptop for school and waited until it went on sale. The battery life is amazing on this thing if you delete the junk apps acer puts on your computer (which is easy to do) and if you disable your startup applications you don't need. This laptop on medium brightness will last between 9-10 hours! The all aluminium body has a very nice finishes and the laptop feels well put together!

This laptop is the best. I have enjoyed every moment of using it. SIDE NOTE: If you plan to use this for games, keep in mind it trottles the hotter it gets, so you need to position a fan right next to it to keep it cool. It plays 80 percent of games comfortably this way.

  • Still Holding Strong.
Bren Sharp (Feb 24, 2020) on Amazon
After 2 years of having this laptop, I can definitely say it is a reliable machine. Purchased at the end of 2017 for personal use, and it handles anything it's given. There are a couple things worth noting, that are more inconveniences than deal-breakers for me:-The edges are somewhat sharp, with no place to grip, making it difficult to open most of the time.-The fingerprint reader is very finicky, and a quarter of the time logging-in gets stuck because something in the software went wrong. It's a quick laptop from my experience, and I've never been disappointed with how it performs.Overall, very happy with my purchase, it has all the bells and whistles I could need.
