AirPods 5 are an interesting step forward for Apple’s regular AirPods lineup. They keep the familiar open-fit design but add ANC (active noise cancellation), the H2 chip, improved audio, better water resistance, and several smarter features previously seen on the Pro range. The biggest surprise is just how effective the ANC can be without silicone ear tips sealing the ear canal. In my testing, the sound came through clean, balanced, and detailed, while Transparency mode felt particularly natural. Comfort is excellent if the shape works for your ears, although that remains highly subjective with an open-fit earbud. Battery life is the biggest area for improvement. The Wireless Charging Case version is the one I would consider, thanks to longer battery life, wireless charging and on-stem volume controls. The AirPods 5 don't replace the Pros, but they get much closer than expected.
