Opera 33 Released With New Features for Windows, OS X, and Linux

Opera Software has launched Opera 33 for desktops with new features and bug fixes. Alongside the update, the company has brought its recently unveiled new product logo to the browser interface as well. It is available for Windows, OS X, and Linux.

The new 'O' icon can be found on the menu button, taskbar, and the desktop screen of the browser. Notably, the company had unveiled the new logo, meant to reflect its brand identity, last month itself. "The 3-dimensional "O" symbolizes a gateway that leads you to more: more content, more discoveries, more answers, more communication, more fun, more data savings, more of life - whatever you seek online, Opera helps you do more!," said the firm. The new brand icon has already made its way to Opera Mini on iOS and later reached Opera Mini for Windows Phone.

The company explains that while the complete red coloured 3D icon represents a final build, the partially red coloured icon depicts a beta build, and a complete black and white wireframe 'O' icon represents build for developers.

Opera 33 for computers includes Turbo 2 compression tech, which compresses images and more so users can surf the web fluidly even on slow internet. The company has cleaned up the look of Opera on Mac as well. "We gave it a shiny new "vibrant" toolbar to match the rest of El Capitan's transparent look," said the firm. It has also added support for H264 video and MP3 audio codecs on Linux.

Notably, since Opera 15, the browser has been based on the Chromium project. Several changes under-the-hood has also been made as per the blog post, including a reduction of Chromium memory use, in collaboration with Google.
