Sony's Xperia Keyboard app is now available on Google Play as a free download. Notably, the app is only compatible with Sony Xperia devices.

Sonyhas released its own Xperia Keyboard app, which comes pre-installed on all Xperia devices, to ensure quick updates for users without worrying about carrier consent for a full operating system update.

The Google Play listing of Xperia Keyboard notes that the app does not support Chinese, Japanese and Korean languages. In addition, the Xperia Keyboard app comes with an improved keyboard layout for Thai language and supports swiping as well as traditional tapping.

It's worth mentioning that the Xperia Keyboard app listing on Google Play does not list the devices compatible with the new app.

However, Xperia Blog in a report has claimed that the new keyboard app from Sony is only compatible with Sony devices running Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

Earlier, Sony Xperia Z devices with Android 4.4.2 reportedly received a bug fix update. The devices which received the update include the Sony Xperia Z1, the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, and the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact.

The bug fix was for certain devices that faced the problem of a glitch in the sound emanating from the devices. This peculiar bug would sometimes cause notifications and calls to be played through the internal speaker instead of the external, and hence made calls difficult to hear.
