The Waze team has rolled out v4.0.1 of the maps app to iOS users, following the launch of Waze 4.0 for iOS last month. The application version brings 3D Touch features for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus users.
iPhone 6s and 6s Plus users can now light press on the app to bring up options like navigate to saved places (like home or work), search for addresses, or send location. Until now only select apps have received the 3D Touch support with WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram being some of the biggest. As for the interface, the team says Waze v4.0.1 now takes take fewer taps to start your drive, send locations and directions. The updated app is available to download from the App Store.
Waze last month received a big update with v4.0 for iOS users. At the time, the team had said the updated app would be making it to Android soon. The update included redesigned interface with an emphasis on visibility, leading to "easier navigation, reporting, and sharing." The version brought the new ETA panel bringing together reports, alternate routes, the ability to add stops in the route, and sharing ETA with contacts. The panel can be accessed via the Waze button on the bottom left, and also shows users saved places such as 'Home' and 'Work'. Other frequently visited places, search bar, and access to settings are also present inside the menu.
A reworked Reporting Menu was also introduced that is accessible via a big orange button on the bottom right of the map. The menu now includes bigger icons, which are colour-coded for faster access. Furthermore, the app version lets users set reminders to leave on time for Calendar events based on traffic.
Last month the Waze mapping service came into news as its navigation feature directed a 70-year-old lady and her husband into a dangerous slum, resulting in the loss of their lives after locals shot at the car.
