  • The new set highly inspired by Apple

WhatsApp has introduced its own set of emojis that's different from what we have seen so far. The new WhatsApp emojis are visible in latest beta version 2.17.363 for Android users, and are likely to be rolled out to more people in future.

Spotted first by Emojipedia, the new set may appear different from the Apple emoji set which was being used earlier by Facebook's WhatsApp for iOS, Android, and Web. The new set, however, is heavily inspired by Apple's emoji set. "It's worth noting that this is only a beta, and these emojis might change before public release, or not even make a public release," speculates Emojipedia.

As seen in image above, the new set of emoji introduced by WhatsApp stress on specific things and tries to be different from Apple's set in minor way.

Considering the new set of emojis is currently available to beta users on Android, we can expect it to take some time to reach all Android users. Further, it can take more time reaching other platforms like iOS as well as Web. WhatsApp's move to introduce new emojis takes inspirations from Facebook which brought its own set to the main app as well as Messenger.

Not too long ago, WhatsApp beta users on Android received granular control to clean up data consuming phone's storage space. For those unaware, the feature was around on iPhones since January this year but made it to Android only now. Notably, the feature is yet to make it to regular WhatsApp users.
