  • WhatsApp Web said to get revoke feature as well
  • The revoke feature will let you unsend a sent message
  • The feature likely to be first available for beta users

The WhatsApp feature to revoke or edit sent messages has been spotted several times, but the official launch seems to be getting closer. The feature, which was earlier seen on iPhone beta version, is now heading for WhatsApp Web, according to a new report. The feature would allow users to recall or 'unsend' messages they have sent to their contacts, or even edit them.

@WABetaInfo, which tracks beta releases of the app, has claimed that a new update for WhatsApp Web is coming soon, and will add the revoke feature to the browser version of the app. WABetaInfo further claims that users will be able to 'unsend' messages within five minutes of being sent. It, however, adds that the WhatsApp revoke feature has been disabled for now. This appears to points that WhatsApp may plan to release the revoke feature on all of its platforms, including WhatsApp Web, at once.

WABetaInfo also claims that new font shortcuts have been added for users on WhatsApp Android beta. WhatsApp for Android version 2.17.148 is said to add new font shortcuts for bold, italics, and strike through. This will remove the need to add text inside asterisks while typing for making it bold, or type phrase between underscores to italicise. Unfortunately, we were not able to replicate the new WhatsApp font shortcuts feature on version 2.17.148. There is no word on when it will roll out publicly for everyone on Android or iOS.

To recall, WhatsApp for Android and iPhone added text formatting last year. It allowed users to format text inside messages as bold, italics, and strike through.
