RollerCoaster Tycoon World, the next entry in the popular PC amusement park simulator series from Atari, now has a release date. It hits digital shelves on December 10 this year. The Standard Edition will set you back by $49.99 (around Rs. 3,270) and the Deluxe Edition will cost you $59.99 (approximately Rs. 4,000) which includes two building maps, new terrain, a digital art book, and a panda mascot.

The game will be available for Windows, SteamOS, and Linux users. Although the RollerCoaster Tycoon World's system requirements page on Steam describes the need for a relatively low-powered computer don't be surprised if it's subject to change.

"For nearly 15 years, the beloved RollerCoaster Tycoon franchise has captured the hearts of millions of fans across the globe. Our vision for the latest instalment, RollerCoaster Tycoon World, is to recapture the spirit of the series while ensuring a next-generation experience," said Fred Chesnais, Chief Executive Officer, Atari. "By focusing heavily on coaster building, deep simulation, personalisation features and user-generated content, we're giving everyone from casual gamers to the most dedicated RollerCoaster Tycoon players a game they'll recognise and enjoy, but experience in a whole new way."

With pre-orders now live, gamers looking for a slice of amusement park fun will be able to play RollerCoaster Tycoon World well ahead of release date. This is due to two beta programs that will be held prior to December 10.

Some of the new features of RollerCoaster Tycoon World include deep park management tools, extensive customisation options, and seamless social media integration so you can share your creations with the world.

In its latest avatar, we've seen Atari release a few games based on franchises it still owns, most notably Alone in the Dark: Illumination and Asteroids: Outpost. Both were met with largely negative reviews for their derivative nature. And while RollerCoaster Tycoon World seems to stay true to what makes the series great, we'll reserve our judgement till the game is out. If you're adventurous, you can pre-order it on Steam or via Atari's own website.
