  • Dead Rising 4's release date was December 6
  • It is not available in India on disc
  • Microsoft India has not commented as to why this is the case

Xbox One console exclusive Dead Rising 4 is not available in India. Readers of Gadgets 360 alerted us of this earlier in the week. The game, which was available globally from December 6, has not hit game stores in the country officially.

This aside, Microsoft’s online partners such as Amazon, Flipkart, and Snapdeal do not have the game listed either.

Usually, before a game makes it to stores, distributors inform retailers of the game. Information such as price, release date, genre, platform, and all manner of details needed for stores to decide how many pieces of a game to order is passed on from the distributor.

Gadgets 360 has learned that Microsoft’s distributors had not intimated retailers of Dead Rising 4’s release at all.

Furthermore, a source close to the company alludes the reason for a no-show to competition from Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Allegedly, Microsoft India feared that the game would not get the shelf-space or visibility it required due to these two high-profile shooters. Despite this making no sense, considering that both of these games released earlier in the year and belong to a different genre altogether, it was corroborated by another source as well. Microsoft did not respond to our repeated requests for comment.

Then again, considering that the Indian division thought it was right to talk up Kinect when no one else did globally and was only willing to officially comment on the Xbox One’s return to brick and mortar retail months after Gadgets 360 confirmed it exclusively, pinpointing the exact rationale behind no Dead Rising 4 at Indian game stores could just be an exercise in futility. It’s tragic, considering that Dead Rising 4 is an enjoyable game, embracing open-world and action gameplay mechanics brilliantly.

Or you could wait for the Steam version expected in three months or the PS4 version rumoured to hit a year from the original release.
