E-commerce major Amazon has signed an agreement with the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) aimed at encouraging SMEs to grow business profitably online.

Under the MoU, Amazon.in and NIESBUD will work towards spreading awareness on the enormous potential of e-commerce for SMEs and empower them to leverage numerous opportunities India's growing digital economy offers, the company said in a release.

The initiative aims at transforming the lives of many entrepreneurs and the way India sells, it added. As part of the MoU, ASSPL (Amazon Seller Services Pvt Ltd) and NIESBUD will jointly undertake the exercise of training SMEs on understanding the e-commerce industry in India and its vast potential for growth.

The two will also provide SMEs with necessary online selling and marketing training as well as faculty support, Amazon said.
