NDTV.com and NDTV Gadgets now support the new Safari push notifications feature that was introduced with OS X Mavericks allowing you to keep yourself updated with the latest news developments.

The feature allows you to receive opt-in push notifications for important news events, similar to ones used by NDTV's apps, on your Mac even when you're not actively visiting NDTV.com or NDTV Gadgets, or have your browser open.

To receive alerts for technology news,  visit https://www.gadgets360.com using Safari, and click on the 'Allow' button when prompted with a message "The website "NDTV Gadgets" would like to send you push notifications in Notification Center." Similarly, if you wish to receive breaking news alerts from India and around the world, visit http://www.ndtv.com and allow the website to send you alerts.

Following the process, you'll be able to receive notifications for important news updates on your desktop. The notifications are clickable and will direct you to the respective websites (NDTV Gadgets or NDTV.com).

Just like other OS X notifications, you can also tweak the alert style and choose between Banners and Alerts notifications and select whether you wish to receive notifications on your lock screen and the number of recent items in the Notification Center through the Notifications settings pane in the System Preferences of your Mac. You can also disable the notifications through these Settings.

The Notification Center at the right hand side of the screen will display all the notifications till you clear them.

Apple introduced Safari Notifications with OS X Mavericks. These notifications work just like push notifications for apps and display the website icon and notification text, on a clickable alert notification.

Disclosure: NDTV.com and NDTV Gadgets (this website) are both part of the NDTV group.
