A new BlackBerry smartphone has been spotted in GFXBench listings tipping that the company may be testing use of Samsung's Exynos chips in its devices.

Spotted first by a Weibo user, the BlackBerry smartphone is codenamed as STV100-1 in GFXBench listings. According to the benchmark listings, the handset will feature a 5.1-inch QHD (1440x2560 pixels) and pack Samsung's octa-core Exynos 7420 processor clocked at 2.1GHz. Other specifications include 3GB of RAM; 32GB inbuilt storage; a 16-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front-camera. At the moment, details on the BlackBerry STV100-1 are limited.

To recall, Samsung's Exynos chipsets, apart from being used in Galaxy range of the device, have been used by other handset makers as well. Meizu launched its new flagship smartphone, the Pro 5, in September featuring the Samsung's Exynos 7420 octa-core processor.

Back in April, Android benchmark app AnTuTu claimed that Samsung's Galaxy S6 topped in benchmarks with an AnTuTu score of 67,520 beating other high-end smartphones. We can expect BlackBerry to target high-end segment with its new Exynos-powered smartphone.

BlackBerry's purported second Android smartphone, believed to be codenamed "Vienna", was leaked in images earlier this month.

This was the first instance when images of the phone were on the Internet. The leaked images showed that the company may ditch the slider design for its second Android phone and would go with its iconic physical keyboard upfront design, previously seen on various BlackBerry phones. The front of the handset was seen housing the display and the physical keyboard below it. The rear housed the camera with flash while the physical buttons for volume were placed on the right panel and power on the left side, as per the leaked images.

The BlackBerry Priv, the company's first Android-based smartphone, went on sale last week in limited markets.
