There seems to be no end to Google's woes when it comes to new Pixel 2 devices. The latest issue to have been reported by some Pixel 2 XL buyers is receiving a unit without an operating system. There are multiple threads on Reddit on the issue, and almost all users complain about the same message welcoming them "Can't find valid operating system. The device will not start."
One of the Reddit users who ordered the Pixel 2 XL wrote in a thread, "I came home excited to unbox my new Pixel 2 XL. Upon turning on the device I was greeted with a black screen stating, "Can't find valid operating system. The device will not start." Spent an hour on the chat with two different customer service reps and they are wanting to send me a replacement phone. Really frustrating."
Fortunately, Google is replacing the Pixel 2 XL units that shipped to customers without an operating system. If you're having problems with an order you made on Google Store then visit Google's Support page.
This is not the first issue that has hit Google from the device's production line as recently a Pixel 2 buyer on Reddit claimed that he received a unit despite it failing the quality control which is a standard test done before shipping the handset.
Google recently acknowledged a lot of issues related to the Pixel 2 devices. The Mountain View company defended both the new Pixel devices and also announced a two-year warranty worldwide. The most widely reported issue of screen burn-in was claimed by Google to not affect day-to-day usage.
