LG has stated that it has started the mass production of a new and thinner display that is speculated to be used in the Apple' next iPhone, reported Reuters.

These displays use an all new in-cell technology, which allows embedding of touch sensors directly in the display instead of adding it separately, thus they are thinner than traditional display plus touch sensor combo.

Apple's new iPhone, which is reportedly debuting next month, is widely speculated to be the first device to use this technology.

LG revealed that there was a lot of trial and error as they were using the tech for the first time, but everything is on track now, reports Bloomberg.

A Seoul based Analyst told Bloomberg that LG's production of displays is in line with release schedule of new iPhone.

Apple had earlier acquired the patent pertaining to the addition of touch sensors in display, further cementing the fact that LG is indeed working with Apple for the new iPhone touch panels.

Previous rumours suggest that Apple will be using a large touch panel in the new iPhone, possibly a 4-inch, which will make it 30 per cent bigger than current iPhone 4s.

Japanese manufacturer Sharp had also earlier stated that it would start shipping displays for the new iPhone in August.

Is this the new iPhone?
