  • OxygenOS 4.5.0 brings many features to OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T
  • New features include Gaming DND, OnePlus Slate font
  • The OxygenOS 4.5.0 update is rolling out 'incrementally'

OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T users have started receiving the OxygenOS 4.5.0 update, which brings a number of improvements including some OnePlus 5 features like Lift up display, Gaming Do Not Disturb mode, network speed in status bar, and scheduled night mode among others. It's good to see that these previous generation smartphones have not been forgotten, though there are still quite a few differences. The OTA update is now rolling out in an 'incremental' manner to users, where a few users will start receiving it from Tuesday while a broader rollout will occur in a few days.

On its forum, OnePlus has released a changelog of all the features that have arrived with the OxygenOS 4.5.0 update on OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. While the changelog does mention the new features, the update size has not been given in the forum. However, according to Android Police that managed to get the update, the update size is 197MB. If you wish to root the device and load the factory image, the size gets inflated to about 1.5GB.

Coming to the features, the OxygenOS 4.5.0 brings Lift up display, Gaming Do Not Disturb, low priority notification, network speed in status bar, a new DashCharge animation, and scheduled night mode, OnePlus Slate font, redesigned Dash charge animation, and other system stability and battery improvements. The Lift up display is essentially a feature that turns the inactive display on when you lift your device up to show you notifications. Gaming Do Not Disturb mode can be turned on to mute all the notifications when you are gaming on your phone. Low priority notifications will discretely arrive on your phone, without disturbing you.

Notably, this update introduces the OnePlus Slate font for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T devices. The font is already available in OnePlus 5. The company has also brought the secure box to the File Manager app. Apart from this, there are some other minor UI redesigns inside some common system apps, with a redesigned calling UI in the Phone app, an improved photo editor in the Gallery, the ability to add a Shot on OnePlus watermark, and the addition of Shot on OnePlus wallpapers. However, the OxygenOS 4.5.0 update for the OnePlus 3 and 3T does not carry the September Android Security Update, with the security patch level remaining at August.
