Redmi is said to be developing a new smartphone which could ship with the latest Xiaomi HyperOS 2 operating system. A purported handset from the Xiaomi subsidiary was reportedly spotted on a certification site, with the listing not only confirming the phone's existence but also shedding light on several of its specifications. As per the listing, the Redmi phone is expected to come with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of onboard storage. It is said to support Wi-Fi 6, NFC, and Bluetooth connectivity options.

Redmi Phone Listing on FCC Database

First spotted by XpertPick, the mystery Redmi smartphone is listed on the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) website's database bearing the model number 25062RN2DL. Notably, devices sold or manufactured in the US are mandated to get FCC approval to ensure compliance with radio frequency (RF) emission regulations.

Although the listing does not reveal its moniker, it is expected to be offered in three RAM and storage configuration variants — 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 256GB. The purported Redmi handset is said to come with Xiaomi HyperOS 2 and may support 5G, VoLTE, WCDMA, GSM, and NFC in terms of connectivity options, along with dual-SIM support.

The FCC listing also allegedly reveals that Redmi will equip the mystery phone with proximity sensors and a SAR-compliant power management system for use when the hotspot feature is switched on or it is kept in contact with the user's body. The publication speculates that it could be introduced as part of the Redmi Note series or some other mid-range lineup of 5G phones.

Notably, this development comes after another mystery handset was discovered on the FCC database last month. The purported device was speculated to be part of the Redmi lineup with another variant branded as Poco for select markets. It will reportedly feature a 6.9-inch LCD screen, pack a 6,000mAh battery with 33W wired fast charging support, and ship with HyperOS 2.2.

However, it may not have 5G capabilities, which indicates that the mystery handset could be a budget offering.
