Sony Xperia Z2 'Sirius' specifications reportedly leaked, to launch at MWC 2014

Sony's much-rumoured next flagship mobile, thought to be codenamed "Sirius", has again arrived in the limelight with reported details about its release.

The proposed handset, which is thought to be a follow-up to Sony's flagship handset, Xperia Z1, is expected to get introduced officially by the firm at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2014 event scheduled to happen from February 24 to 27 in Barcelona.

The leaked news comes via @evleaks, in a Twitter post. The leak also indicates the handset, which may be called the Xperia Z2, will feature a 5.2-inch display and a Snapdragon 800-based MSM8974AB SoC.

"Sony Sirius (2014 flagship) tipped for MWC debut: 5.2-inch display, MSM8974AB SoC, and a home on Verizon in the US," stated the post by @evleaks.

Other key features expected to get featured in the follow-up flagship handset are an impressive 2560 x 1440 pixel display, along with a 20.7 megapixel rear camera sensor, backed by a 3700mAh battery.

The yet-to-be-announced Sony Xperia 'Sirius' is said to carry forward the slim profile boasted of by the other Z-series handsets, along with a water-resistant body. The Z1's successor is additionally expected to get powered by Sony's proprietary Mobile Bravia Engine 3.

Previous rumours indicated the Sony Xperia Z2 handset will sport a 506ppi display, along with a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor paired with 3GB RAM and the latest Android 4.4 Kitkat OS.

Recently enough, Sony also revealed its Sony Xperia Z1 Compact smartphone at CES 2014, which is an international mini-variant of the company's flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z1. According to some pre-ordering websites, the handset is priced at 449 British Pounds in the UK, which translates to roughly Rs. 45,500, while the smartphone is priced at 549 euros (roughly Rs. 46,200) in France, Netherlands and Spain, and 499 euros (roughly Rs. 42,000) in Germany and Italy.
