With the launch of Windows Phone 8 this autumn, Microsoft is looking to seek attention from various game developers. According to Eurogamer, the software giant revealed that its new operating system, Windows Phone 8, will possess a large number of new features that would appeal to game designers as a brand new and unique gaming platform.

According to a company representative, "Windows Phone 8 is based on the same core technologies that power Windows 8." This could lead to the launch of a brand new array of games and apps that could potentially revolutionize the gaming world.

New traits such as full C and C++ integration, over and above traditional Direct-X inspired game creation, will simplify the job for developers by quite an extent.

There are a few additional features encompassed in Windows Phone 8. One of them is Havok Vision Engine, a technology that is capable of rendering minute details within complicated scenes at smooth frame rates. Autodesk Scaleform is another one that enables developers to create menus for modern games and enhances user interface components.

Audiokinetic Wwise and Firelight FMOD, also included, aim to provide audio programmers with a straightforward passageway to create a more refined and sophisticated sound.

Two Zynga games, Words with Friends and Draw Something, have so far confirmed their readiness to accommodate Windows Phone 8. Meanwhile, Gameloft is also said to be in the middle of developing versions of Asphalt 7 and N.O.V.A. 3 that shall be available on this new platform.

Windows Phone 8 shall have a multi-core processor support, two new screen resolutions (1280x768 and 1280x720), Internet Explorer 10, a wallet feature to keep credit card info and other documents secure, an improved mapping system and built-in internet calling.

While the Windows Phone Marketplace is already growing in popularity (100,000+ apps), more and more games are expected to be added each day, now that Windows Phone 8 is here.
